Temp-to-Hire

1st Shift (6:45am-3:15pm) with lunch break, start and end times are flexible to a degree. 20+ hours of overtime a week

Job Description
Responsible for duties as assigned while performing a variety of functions in the processing end (Wet End) of the production department. Occasionally, will require assignment to other areas of the plant, for general manual labor tasks.

This position performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials. Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed.

The position works under direct supervision and reports to Production Supervisor or Shift Manager, and takes direction from Production Supervisor or Line Lead personnel. Primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment.

Job Scope:
Position is primarily responsible for general manual labor tasks associated with the processing of materials, including but not limited to:
? Depalletizing (unstacking) boxes which can weigh up to 70lbs,
? Opening of boxes, removal of corrugate, handling of bags of product, opening of bags,
? Dumping product onto conveyors or into hoppers,
? Handling of dry material bags,
? Frequent loading of equipment, equipment operation (when properly trained),
? Mixing and blending in accordance with recipes and formulations,
? Inspection and assessment of raw materials to ensure they meet incoming quality standards, inspection of product
? Verifying that all raw and dry ingredient codes match those specified on the recipes or formulations provided.
? Record keeping, weight measurements, food safety, personnel safety, housekeeping
The job requires the employee to:
? Work overtime as needed as well as mandatory overtime as required
? Adhere to all CLIENT’S Safety Rules.
? Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure food safety
? Have a thorough understanding of CLIENT’S quality standards, and ability to sort out product which does not meet CLIENT’S standards. Report any condition which does not meet CLIENT’S standards.
? Opens fish block and removes wax divider and prepares fish for processing. Opens boxes, removes fish from plastic bags and feeds line
? Safe use of razor utility knife, block opening knife, and other hand tools. Wearing of cut resistant gloves when utilizing knives.
? Inspect raw and intermediate product, ensuring that all product meets, or exceeds, Client’s (CLIENT’S) quality standards.
? Inspects raw and dry ingredients at all times for specific compliance to quality standards, ensuring that the product is free of defects
? Load and operate processing equipment (i.e. conveyor belts, mixers, kettles, grinders, hoppers, saws, etc.
? Keep production records, document usage
? Ensure proper housekeeping conditions are met in the work area. Area is kept clean, clutter free, and free of trip hazards or food waste.
? Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed
? Maintains work area demonstrating GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
? Performs general line clean-up/by-product packaging
? Work in a manner that enables CLIENT’S to produce the highest quality, safest, most cost efficient products possible.
? Assist a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed
? May be accountable for other results and activities as assigned

Additional duties may include:
? Operating several pieces of equipment, including but not limited to; conveyors, shaker tables, saws, grinders, mixers, kettles, etc.
? Movement of pallets, or stacks of pallets
? Use of a hand jack (Pallet Jack)
? Completion of production records


Knowledge:
? Requires the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in spoken English:
Client’s (USA), Inc. requires for safety, quality control and emergency procedures that all employees be proficient in English. This means they must be able to read and write as well as understand and communicate in spoken English. This is not an English –Only rule. We recognize that English is not the first language for some of our employees. Translation services and assistance may be provided as needed however, all employees need to have a basic understanding of and proficiency in English.
? May require the successful completion of a basic competency exam
? May require a high school diploma and six months to one year prior experience in a related field
? Required to know, understand, and comply with all CLIENT’S Good Manufacturing Policies (GMP’s), Food Safety regulations and practices, and CLIENT’S Safety Rules.

Skills:
? Requires ability to acquire necessary speed to properly service the line
? Applies knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
? Required to know, understand, and comply with all CLIENT’S Good Manufacturing Policies (GMP’s), Food Safety regulations and practices, and CLIENT’S Safety Rules.

? Occasionally pull/push 6 lbs to 24 lbs, 40lbs on occasion
? Repetitive motion of upper extremities
? Reaching to cases on floor level pallets, reaching to heights of 60”
? Constant standing
? Repetitive gross motor (arms, back, legs) tasks
? Stacks boxes 5-16lbs frequently
? Lifts/tilts/dumps mini dumpsters 215lbs occasionally
? Pushes/pull up to 500lbs occasionally

Worksite Measures:
? Works throughout the plant
? Table is 33" high
? Dumpster is 53" high

Work Environment:
The plant environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.
Allergens found inside the plant include: fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut

Must be able to pass a criminal background screening and a drug screening
