Serve as the primary interface between Whitcraft | Central Connecticut’s Plainville facility (formerly “Connecticut Tool & Manufacturing”) and major OEM customer(s) for functions related to business development, sales administration, pricing proposals and negotiations, customer service, relationship management, demand management, sales budget forecasting, and overall account financial health.
Major Responsibilities & Activities:
Business Development. Actively identify and support the Company’s part/process family strategies. Solicit business opportunities that support Company strategic growth plans. Customer visits as needed to build relationships with key decision makers in the purchasing, engineering and quality organizations.
Communication. Act as a single point of contact and relationship manager with the customer; responsible for providing timely and accurate updates on hardware deliveries; support contract negotiations; coordinate all customer meeting logistics, agendas, attendees, etc. and meeting preparation at the customer location, Whitcraft facility or telecon. Requires timely, professional communication skills and the ability to address, analyze, and construct large number of emails from internal and external customers.
Team Meetings. Support daily manufacturing, production and program team meetings.
Sales Plan Forecasting. Responsible for developing accurate annual sales budget (quantities and pricing) and monitoring actual performance vs. budget. Take proactive measures to assure there is adequate demand to meet the budget and work with customers to try to mitigate delivery gaps when capacity issues occur.
Demand Management. Work with the Master Planner to identify changes in demand in order to take preventative and corrective action with the customer as appropriate. Develop processes with the customer that will provide accurate and frequent forecast models which are key inputs to the capacity plans. Communicate capacity plans and actions with the customer to assure readiness as well as provide visibility to the customer on capacity opportunities.
Delivery Assurance. Coordinate with Operations, Quality and Engineering to help resolve production issues and support customer on-time deliveries.
Proposals. Review incoming Requests for Quote (RFQs) and analyze for strategic value to Whitcraft. Submit potential strategic fit opportunities to Cost Estimating and coordinate review/update of cost estimates for requotes. Prepare pricing recommendation for review with Sales and Operations leadership and prepare final quotes for submittal to customer.
Account Maintenance. Monitor key account performance metrics such as sales growth and profitability, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, quality, and overall relationship.
Inventory Management. Actively identify and pursue revenue for Terminations, Obsolescence and Engineering Changes.
Project Management. The Account Manager may be required to act as a project manager to facilitate activities between the customer and various Company personnel (Engineering, Operations, Planning, etc.) to bring a project through development and into production.
Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security.
Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Engineering, Marketing, Finance or Management preferred.
Five years’ experience in sales in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Computer literacy is essential, with demonstrated competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
