The Head of Product is responsible for the company’s overall (SaaS enterprise) product strategy and ensures the successful execution of all new product features and enhancements. This role will lead our technical team including engineering, QA, and design, to ensure all products are launched on time and with high quality. The role requires a hands-on, positive, upbeat and engaged leader that carries out the high expectations of Whil as we work with the needs and integrations of our enterprise clients and reseller partners. The Head of Product will actively seek out new trends and opportunities that will further support and provide growth to the company’s product and user engagement. This role reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee product development with a data-driven, user-centric approach

  • Working with engineering and the product team to meet the needs and integration requirements of our enterprise clients

  • Be a part of the core leadership team to define product strategy (document, communicate, implement) and roadmap and translate it into planning the detailed requirements, user stories, epics, and prototypes

  • Own the product development process - managing an agile process to execute the product strategy and vision while prioritizing effectively based on project timelines and resources

  • Work closely with Whil’s Engineering department to ensure feature deliverables are on track and delivered on time while anticipating and resolving bottlenecks for the team

  • Define detailed use cases, product requirements, and technical specs

  • Identify gaps in the product development systems, and where necessary, develop processes and infrastructure to mitigate gaps

  • Think in terms of the big picture, but deliver on the details

  • Gauge how new technologies fit into the broad technical infrastructure and how that infrastructure should evolve

  • Understand how to define enterprise product success and measure impact. Ability to set priorities and make tradeoffs based on business and user needs

  • Be the primary expert on the competitive landscape of our industry including valued features and functionality

  • Provide expertise around complex compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, FERPA, SOC2) and anticipate implications on product that are associated with key strategic decisions

Requirements:

  • 8-10+ years of Product Management experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading product development teams

  • Excellent project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects across critical yet often fluctuating deadlines. Capable of driving projects across cross-functional team

  • Engineering background or proven ability to engage comfortably with engineers

  • Experience working in a data-driven technology environment

  • Experience with leading Agile scrum software development and applying lean startup principles

  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and perform QA, Design, PM work hands-on as needed

  • Creativity and knowledge in all areas of product management including the ability to conceptualize, develop and implement innovative product development programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (tech and non-tech)

  • Strong leader with the vision and motivation to elevate the function and organization

  • Ability to think strategically to formulate a range of options including risk assessment and analysis as well as tracking market projections

  • Blend of technical, management, creative and business skills

  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills. Proactive and results-oriented

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the digital health and wellness space, healthcare, or insurance

  • Experience in Education Tech or LMS software

  • Experience with startups early stage through scaled success including IPO, or Acquisition
