Job Description

JOB TITLE: The Missions & Mercy/Matthew 25 Assistant Program Coordinator for Social Services

EMPLOYER: Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church

DEPARTMENT: Matthew 25

REPORTS TO: Matthew 25 Program Coordinator

The Missions & Mercy/Matthew 25 Program Assistant Coordinator for Social Services reports to the Matthew 25 Coordinator and is responsible for interviewing and responding to Matthew 25 clients/and or potential clients. works closely with various public and private agencies to ensure the Social Services delivery network meets the basic needs of the intended population. The Matthew 25 Assistant Coordinator will also be responsible for the management and decision-making process when the Program Coordinator is unavailable.

Qualifications for the Position

• Must possess good communication skills.

• Computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office site products and Shelby Next are necessary.

• Must be able to update the database effectively.

Responsibilities of the Position

• Primary job includes but is not limited to interviewing clients daily.

• Exhibit a high level of compassion, respect, and confidentiality of congregants and community members and process assistance accordingly.

• Prepare internal and external reports daily/monthly and email/fax.

• Contact agencies to apply pledges.

• Mail and/or distribute checks/gift cards.

• Oversee the distribution of resources to assist with utilities and housing.

• Collaborate with other social service programs.

• Assist with activities related to research, identification, preparation and submission, receipt, and administration of public foundation funds/grants.

• Assist with annual WABC events and projects for the congregation and community.

• Identify social services needs and determine the appropriate response to those needs.

• Researches and responds to internal and external requests for information.

• Develop and recommend new policies and procedures or modifications to existing ones.

• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease client service time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless service to clients.

Education, Experience, Skill/Ability Requirements


• An undergraduate/associate degree from an accredited collegiate/university institution is preferred


• Three years’ work experience in a church or relevant professional/non-profit setting is preferred

• A minimum of 3 years of an administrative/customer service role.

• Managing budgets, bookkeeping, and reporting.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent planning and organization skills

• Detail-oriented and efficient

• Highly proficient in MS Office and general computer skills (prefer good understanding/management of databases and reporting)

• Comply with deadlines.

• Ability to work in a team environment and interact well with others and leaders.
