About the Department
The Computer Science Department at WWU has grown significantly over the past seven years in response to increased student interest and tremendous state need. We are looking for faculty excited by the prospect of shaping our department's future, contributing to its sustained excellence, and fostering collaborations internally and externally.
Currently the department offers an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in Computer Science, an M.S. degree in Computer Science, and a B.S. degree in Cybersecurity that is a 2+2 program with local community colleges.
The department has a strong commitment to diversity as evidenced by faculty involvement in workshops on inclusive pedagogy and educational research on student success, NSF grants focusing on support for low-income students, and continued participation in the National Center for Women & Information Technology's (NCWIT) Pacesetters program, among other things.

About the Position
The Computer Science Department at WWU invites applications for two tenure-track positions beginning September 2020 at the rank of Assistant Professor. All areas of research specialization will be considered but we will give preference to those with research and teaching interests in areas such as: Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or High-Performance Computing. Regardless of specialty, we expect that new faculty will teach core courses in the area of computer systems and will contribute to our efforts related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
+ Doctorate degree at time of application or ABD at time of application in Computer Science or a closely related field. If ABD, all degree requirements must be completed by June 15th of the first year of employment.
+ Demonstrated ability to teach existing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
+ Ability to develop a quality research program that involves students
+ Commitment to engage in curricular development at the undergraduate and graduate levels
+ Commitment and ability to support the success of underrepresented students in the department
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Scholarly interest in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or High-Performance Computing
+ Commitment to secure external funding
+ Interest in mentoring senior projects as part of your teaching load
