Job Description

Job title: STEM Teacher: AP Computer Science Emphasis Department: Electives

Reports to: Electives Department Effective date: 7/26/2021

Job Type: Full-time Compensation: $50,000-$55,000

  • engaging in weekly coaching sessions to improve their craft
  • innovating and creating STEM- based learning experiences for students

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science or related field
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Passion for working with families living in low-income urban Phoenix communities
  • Preferred: Bilingual: Spanish/English
  • Preferred: Valid Arizona teacher certification
  • optional: Arizona Highly Qualified status (college degree, passed ADE-approved reading test)
  • optional: Master’s Degree

General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Computer & Coding Teacher actively instructs students, creates lesson plans, assigns and grades homework, manages students in the classroom, communicates with families and helps prepare students for standardized tests.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan, develop and execute lesson plans
  • Adapt teaching for individual students, small groups, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students
  • Evaluate the academic and social growth of students
  • Evaluate student progress and the ability to meet courses standards in computer literacy & coding
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  • Maintain professional competence through in -service training and education activities provided by WSST and/or in self-selected professional development opportunities.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with students, staff and families.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral , or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical & Work Environment:
The employee regularly works indoors.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
The employee may be exposed to machinery, potential physical harm, all outdoor weather conditions, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
