Job Description

Position Summary

This member of the PACT multidisciplinary team is licensed as an addiction counselor with training in social work, psychology or education and clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients with severe and disabling mental illnesses under the clinical supervision of the team leader. Functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team and provides treatment rehabilitation and support services.


· Provide direct clinical substance abuse treatment to clients on an individual, group, and family basis in the office and in the community settings

· Conduct comprehensive chemical dependency evaluations and biopsychosocial assessments, including diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations

· Provide clinical consultation to staff related to substance abuse and treatment

· Provide benefits counseling (e.g. SSI, veterans’ benefits)

· Provide case management for an assigned group of clients including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team; assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the ITT; maintain strict confidentiality

· Provide individual supportive and symptom management; ensure immediate changes are made in treatment plans as clients’ needs change; educate and support clients’ families; and advocate for clients’ rights and preferences

· Participate in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric (e.g., onset, course and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, and risk behaviors), mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and function; activities of daily living (e.g., self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships

· Consult with community agencies and families to coordinate client treatment

· Participate in on-call rotation to provide crisis intervention for PACT clients

· Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures

· Remain current with best practices related to substance abuse assessment and treatment

· Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings

· Additional duties as assigned


· Licensure in the state of Montana to practice as a Licensed Addiction Counselor

· One years’ experience in an inpatient or outpatient behavioral health setting 


· Licensure in the state of Montana to practice as a Licensed Addiction Counselor

· Completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), CPR, and First Aid training provided

· Ability to pass background check and driver’s license check upon offer of employment

· Provide proof of auto liability insurance coverage per Western’s policies

· One years’ experience in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting
