Job Description

This position supports the Due Diligence and Curative Project Manager in all Due Diligence efforts. By directing the work of employees and independent contractors for due diligence projects, this position will play a critical role in the success of projects.  Looks for additional business opportunities to maximize the utilization and quality of the Department's work product and to improve organizational capabilities related to Due Diligence efforts.


  • Analyze, summarize and verify oil and gas leases, right-of-ways, drilling units, HBP lands and leases, and other contracts associated with Due Diligence or Curative projects.
  • Analyze, confirm interest in leasehold, wells and units, including DOIs, review of title opinions and curative, division orders, ability to calculate and confirm NRI on all WI parties during document review process.
  • Preparation of final due diligence reports to identify defects and necessary curative items for acquisition of the leasehold.
  • Assist in project launch, tracking, and submission.
  • Preparation of curative documents, approval of final curative documents by staff.
  • Work with various project managers, department leaders, and in some cases clients, maintaining positive relationships and communication among all parties.
  • Assist in training efforts.
  • Project start up meeting, identify and supply project requirements.
  • Performs duties of a Title Examiner/Abstractor, including:
    • Copy or summarize recorded documents, such as leases, right of ways, and judgments affecting specific property.
    • Examine liens, judgments, leases, plat books, maps, contracts, and agreements to verify legal description, ownership and restrictions.
    • Create and review run sheets, deed plots, and flowcharts for abstracts and title opinions.
    • Prepare detailed Ownership Reports.
    • Research and abstract oil and gas leasehold interest ownership.
  • Submit reports and results from researching liens, mortgages, right of ways, easements, back taxes, mineral, coal, oil and gas ownership, and verification of current surface ownership.
  • Provide quality research and reports based on client needs and criteria.
  • Other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Law or equivalent professional experience.
  • Knowledge of title and lease terms.
  • Experience Excel, Word, Deed Plotter and Flowchart Maker or similar applications
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities with tight time deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of production, wells, storage and utilization including Held by Production, Held by Storage and Held by Operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping.
