Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.

The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The UDAAP Compliance Consultant directly supports the enterprise UDAAP Program Emerging Risk Team within the Responsible Banking Compliance team. The Emerging Risk Team leverages data from across the enterprise to identify emerging trends that may pose UDAAP risk to Wells Fargo. This individual contributor will provide detailed in depth reviews of complex topics with the potential to result in UDAAP risk. The topics will often include horizontal enterprise wide focus topics that present potential UDAAP risk to Wells Fargo. The consultant will leverage internal and external information to conduct the reviews as well as leverage large amounts of transactional and non-transactional data to complete the reviews.  This position will play a critically important role in assessing and mitigating UDAAP risks across the enterprise.

Promote a strong compliance culture related to UDAAP.
Work closely with the UDAAP Program and compliance partners across the enterprise to address areas of identified UDAAP risk.
Build and maintain relationships with business and control leaders, the legal department, key regulators and examiners, and internal audit team members
Confirm potential risk exposure using a variety of data including transactional data
Manage and support multiple reviews with challenging deadlines.
Identify and escalate emerging risks to senior leadership and risk partners as appropriate.
Identify UDAAP best practices across the enterprise.
Communicate results and issues identified from assessments with senior leadership.
Make key decisions to ensure compliance with UDAAP policies and procedures.

The candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and monitoring of risk based compliance programs designed to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and/or Corporate Policy requirements. Develops and oversees standards to effectively identify, assess and manage compliance risk and recognized as an industry and subject matter expert who maintains deep business and functional knowledge. Works with complex business units, rules and regulations or high risk compliance matters; provides compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines. Responsible for overseeing the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management. May be involved in designing and developing complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations. May provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change. Reports findings and recommendations to senior management and to appropriate committees. May be involved in identifying compliance training and awareness needs or the development, delivery and administration of training and awareness content.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
