The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management. The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale. Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale.
The Wholesale Control organization is comprised of a series of risk and control teams including: (1) Business Control teams managing risk and controls for each of the Wholesale businesses; (2) Risk Operations teams managing risk-type programs (e.g. regulatory, financial crimes, operational risk, conduct) and associated controls and operations; (3) Governance & Programs teams managing cross-functional risk and controls e.g., governance and reporting, issue management, regulatory relations and review activities, enterprise risk programs, control assurance, etc.) spanning across risk-type programs and Wholesale businesses; (4) Functional teams supporting business enablement and infrastructure (e.g. strategic planning, operational excellence, transformation, analytics, reporting and administration).
The Role
The Issues Management team for Commercial Banking Control (CBC) seeks a Business Risk Control Senior Associate to assist with all aspects of issues management as related to the Commercial Banking (CB) issues portfolio.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
* Issue Management and Coordination
* Maintain and execute the Commercial Banking Control Issues Management Program in accordance with Wells Fargo policy and Wholesale standards and requirements.
* Engage and collaborate with Commercial Banking management, Wholesale Control, Independent Risk Management (IRM), Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS) and other stakeholders to effectively manage the issue pipeline and issue portfolio.
* Foster strong business relationships with other audit coordination teams, Wholesale Control contacts, IRM, and WFAS.
* Participate, organize and manage regular meetings with Commercial Banking senior management, Wholesale Banking Controls team and IRM partners to discuss issue status, trends, and lessons learned.
* Work collaboratively with Wholesales Banking Controls teams to ensure consistent execution of program framework and execution standards.
* Manage issues and corrective actions through the Issue Management life cycle to ensure alignment with Enterprise and Wholesale policy.
* Proactively manage escalated issues through reporting to Commercial Banking leadership as appropriate.
* Work with Commercial Banking partner to address credible challenge received from IRM and Control partners
* Actively engage in corrective action development and contribute recommendations to address control deficiencies and/or control gaps.
* Leverage available resources, systems, and tools to produce periodic comprehensive executive reporting (inclusive of RAR, Testing & Validation, Internal Audit and external examiners) and calendar to convey the status of review activities across Commercial Banking.
* Coordinate and produce communication to ensure Commercial Banking leadership is informed and updated on the Commercial Banking issues portfolio and identified trends.
* Ad hoc reporting for key stakeholders within Commercial Banking and across the enterprise.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite, and all risk and compliance program requirements.
Required Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management
