The Policy Specialist is responsible for supporting the Director, Regulatory Compliance to help ensure companywide processes, procedures, and policies are in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies, including but not limited to, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The Policy Specialist is a member of the Regulatory Compliance team and collaborates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote the WelbeHealth values, team culture and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the WelbeHealth liaison as it relates to internal questions and inquiries from other departments.
  • Assist with the maintenance of policies and procedures as the primary analyst for the department.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and research of changes in State and Federal regulations and statutes relevant to WelbeHealth's current and planned markets.
  • Contributes to the effective communication of WelbeHealth's policies and procedures.
  • Support department leadership with the development of reports, presentations, and projects.
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement for the Regulatory Compliance department and participate in the development of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Performs a broad range of project management and research activities, using analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • May support other components of the WelbeHealth Regulatory Compliance department, such as Privacy, Data Security, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Fraud Waste & Abuse, etc.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all company procedures and information about team members, participants, and families.
  • Follow WelbeHealth policies and procedures and participate in any required Quality Improvement activities, staff training and meetings. 
  • Communicate regularly with Supervisor and team regarding workload and priorities.
  • Timely completion of all mandated trainings and education.
  • Timely completion of all mandated occupational health screenings as needed.
  • Exercises flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Health Administration, Political Science or relevant field.
  • Valid State Driver's License with a clean DMV record.
  • Copy of recent Vehicle Insurance required.
  • Minimum of three years' of related experience providing analytical and/or project implementation support, including but not limited to legislative affairs, regulatory review and analysis in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong skills in researching and analyzing complex State and Federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects.
  • Extensive MS office suite experience.
  • Critical thinking skills – using logic and reasoning to identify and interpret state and federal regulatory policies.
  • Proven experience working in a confidential environment with ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel to WelbeHealth Markets.
  • Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
