Job Description

We are looking for a hard-working chief administrative officer (CAO) to be responsible for overseeing the administrative operations within our organization. The CAO works with top-level executives to devise strategies to meet the organization's objectives, and reports on the performance of the various departments to the CEO and board of directors.

To be a successful CAO, you should be driven to succeed, able to handle stress, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be familiar with the workings of different departments, and knowledgeable about IRS laws, SEC rules, and government regulations.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organization and is in charge of specific departments (such as finance, HR, and IT), reporting directly to the CEO. The CAO will oversee all aspects of property purchases and construction projects and maintain and update policies and procedures to keep the organization compliant with government regulations and best practices.

We seek a highly driven and innovative strategic leader to serve as Chief Administrative Officer. Responsible for managing the department’s operational strategy and effectiveness to include developing an end-to-end talent plan for our growing team. The Chief Administrative Officer will set the departmental vision and direction for attracting, engaging, developing, retaining, and embedding a talent-focused culture within the department. Responsibilities also include the important work of building and implementing foundational processes and procedures to support a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. The Chief Administrative Officer will play a key role in making decisions about the strategic direction of the department and bringing to life our commitment to equitable practices that empower our employees to meet their fullest potential. Must possess the ability to masterfully influence and manage all matters related to strategy and people operations while partnering closely with the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and collaborating and engaging internal/external stakeholders with a sense of resiliency and calmness under pressure.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree required, master’s or advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven years management/supervisory experience with a background as CAO.
  • Six to ten years business experience in the non-profit industry preferred but not required.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience in accounting, word processing and intermediate level of spreadsheet data processing systems required.
  • Understanding and experience in various government report requirements, insurance and payroll/employee-related reporting important.
  • Proven experience as an administrative officer
  • Solid work experience in a managerial position.
  • A working knowledge of government regulations for businesses
  • Solid understanding of business functions (HR, finance etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., SEC)
  • Experience in operations management
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to handle the stress of a high-powered position.
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning, budgeting, and reporting
  • Proficient in MS Office and databases
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills such as that he/she deals successfully with personnel on all levels in the organization and relates well to contacts outside of the organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
