Senior Infrastructure and Systems Engineer

General Job Description

Weigel Broadcasting Co. has an immediate opening for a Senior Infrastructure and Systems Engineer to join our growing team of network, security and systems architects focusing on data center and enterprise infrastructure. This on-site Chicago Illinois role is responsible for both production and DR systems. You will provide technical engineering in enterprise project initiatives, as well as ongoing technical guidance and implementation of initiatives. The senior systems and network engineer provides a key role in transitioning enterprise infrastructure from the IT Architecture Team to the IT Operations Teams.

Duties/Responsibilities

Manage a mission-critical network and server infrastructure including but not limited to: Physical and virtual servers, SAN storage, cloud backup, Active Directory, O365 and Azure environments, VMware vCenter, VMware Horizon, Nutanix, Windows server, network, unified communications, and license management.

Provide level 3 escalation support to IT Helpdesk, Engineering, and Application teams including but not limited to: Servers, Laptops, desktops and workstations, virtualization, and cloud services.

Provide expertise and technical guidance in infrastructure projects, including solution design, project planning, capacity planning, software upgrades, and implementation of new technologies

Research, evaluate, and recommend new products and technologies; participate in proof-of-concept trials to determine business case and planning criteria for new investments

Ensure we are compliant throughout the virtual environment infrastructure (VMWare line of products: Horizon View products, vSphere products used in the environment) and hardware/software levels Implements, monitors, and manages enterprise disaster recovery business continuity, and incident response plans.

Revising and developing processes to strengthen the systems operations framework, review policies, and highlight the challenges in managing Service Level Agreements (SLA) of the enterprise systems. Manage a hybrid Microsoft environment including Azure and on-premise AD and Office 365.

Requirements

CCNA or Network+ with 5 years of Cisco experience in a production network.

Certification in Azure Administrator, Microsoft MCSA or MCSE

VMWare Certified Professional

8+ years of experience working in Hyper-Converged compute environments, multi-tiered storage architectures, and all aspects of component connectivity.

Expert in Virtualization (VMware), Disaster Recovery, and Active Directory.

8+ years’ experience in hands-on configuration and design knowledge of VMware SDDC software stack. 8+ years of experience in hands-on configuration and design knowledge of PowerShell and Azure ARM templates and Azure CLI.

Microsoft Windows 2016/2019, Failover Clustering, DFS, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, PowerShell, SCCM, SQL Server 2016/2017/2019, Intune

In-depth familiarity with industry standards and best practices for enterprise systems.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
