Job Summary/Basic Function

Weber State University is searching for an Executive Director of the Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Office. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the institutional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through such initiatives as a focus on the success of all students and the growth of faculty and staff diversity.

The ED of the AA/EO office will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and administration of policies and procedures to promote commitment to and compliance with Federal and State law, regulations, and rules, with particular emphasis on those relating to nondiscrimination, harassment, access, affirmative action, and diversity. This will include conducting civil rights investigations, developing and implementing the University's annual affirmative action plan, participating in campus threat assessment and criminal background reviews, conducting civil rights training for faculty, staff, and students, and facilitating fair and affirmative hiring practices across the University. This position is designated as the Title IX Coordinator and Disability Coordinator. This position will work closely with the University's Chief Diversity Officer, Legal Counsel, Human Resources, Disability Services, the Women's Center, University Police, the Dean of Students, Athletics, and other administrators. The successful candidate will have the skills and abilities to realize the institutional goals of creating a diverse and inclusive campus that is committed to justice and equity for students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Required Qualifications

- Law degree (J.D. or LL.M.) from an accredited institution or both a related master's degree and 3 years of full-time AA/EO experience
- Three years full-time experience in civil rights, employee relations, student affairs, diversity, affirmative action, human resources, legal, or related field.
- Three years (concurrent) of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to provide leadership at the unit, institution, and community levels
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and professional communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to conduct trauma-informed investigations, including interviewing, gathering and analyzing evidence, and writing investigation reports utilizing best practices and methodologies
- Ability to creatively solve problems through mediation, negotiation, and restorative practices
- Knowledge of employment and student civil rights law including sex/gender, disability, race/ethnicity, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to build and cultivate relationships with internal and community stakeholders
- Professional work experience and/or additional training in areas relevant to the position, including Higher Ed experience
