Job Summary/Basic Function
NOTE: This position will be filled as a Development Director II or a Senior Development Director depending on candidate qualifications.
Weber State University (WSU, weber.edu) seeks a dynamic, engaging, self-motivated individual to become the Development Director II for the Telitha E. Lindquist College for Arts & Humanities. Development Directors work with deans of academic colleges, divisions, or departments of the university in planning private fundraising strategies, identifying and qualifying prospective donors, maintaining and advancing relationships with prospects and donors, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donor support. The position reports to the Interim Executive Development Director of Development and University Advancement and works collaboratively with the University Advancement team. WSU offers a full range of associate and bachelor degrees and selected master degrees to over 29,000 students at campuses in Ogden and Layton, Utah. The vision of WSU is to be the national model for a dual-mission university that integrates learning, scholarship and community.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in private fundraising, marketing, sales, communication, psychology, business management, education, or a related field.
4 or more years of experience in private fundraising, including the demonstrated achievement at successfully fulfilling the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship components of the prospect management cycle for individuals, foundations and corporations.
Strong technology skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and internet
Preferred Qualifications
Seeking applicants with the following knowledge, skills and abilities: - Strong writing skills and willingness to accurately and comprehensively document donor/prospect interaction - Excellent interpersonal skills that facilitate the identification and nurturing of donor relationships - Track record of displaying integrity and the ability to keep confidences regarding personal information - Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines Preferred Qualifications include: - An understanding of, commitment to, and ability to articulate the value of higher education, and specifically the value of arts and humanities education - Previous experience with and/or an appreciation for the performing and visual - Previous experience working both independently and as part of a team identifying and cultivating prospective donors and soliciting philanthropic support; including planned giving opportunities - History of interacting positively with diverse constituencies, both internal and external to an organization - Demonstrated ability to listen effectively and to speak and write clearly - Experience with and ability to manage multiple priorities and requests - Experience working in a college, university, or non-profit setting - Experience with event planning and event management - Ability to perform well under pressure in an environment that encourages setting and fulfilling goals
