Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Fleet Maintenance to join our team!  In this role, you will use the latest technology and equipment to maximize preparation and accountability that ensures our customer’s loads arrive on time and safely.

The Director of Fleet Maintenace ensures the safe and cost-efficient operation of all Company equipment and vehicles through the effective performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of multiple shop field organizations.  Directs purchasing of parts and outside services so as to maximize equipment and driver utilization while minimizing costs.  Coordinates the acquisition of licenses and permits required by local, state, and federal statutes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Manages all aspects of accurate and timely equipment and vehicular maintenance to ensure consistent, safe, and steady operations at all the Company's terminal locations, including the procurement of any necessary outside services, parts, tires, equipment, and supplies.
  •  Manages spare parts and tire inventory using methods that are cost-effective, yet allows for timely repairs.
  • Organizes and assigns departmental workloads at each terminal to maximize subordinate efficiency and quality of performance.  Manages to schedule of all shop repair operations.
  • Instructs, guides, supervises, motivates and evaluates subordinates regarding the daily performance of their assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable Company policies and procedures, as well as any relevant local, state and/or federal statutes or regulations.
  • Ensures that all documentation and computer entry requirements are maintained on a current basis in accordance with departmental and Company policies and procedures.  Ensures that all required filing systems are properly updated.
  • Evaluates all maintenance systems and procedures on a continual basis to ensure conformity with Company policies and practices, as well as compliance with all relevant local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.  
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with all other Company management, departments and personnel.
  • Ensures that all licenses and permits, required by local, state and federal statutes for all Company and independent contractor equipment, are properly ordered, received, distributed and maintained in a timely fashion as required so as to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of business.
  • Develops and sustains effective working relationships with all outside vendors and suppliers to assure the best prices and quality of maintenance merchandise purchased.  Negotiates purchasing agreements favorable to the Company for the acquisition of any necessary supplies, services, fuel and/or parts.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding current legislation and/or industry regulations which could impact the Company's operations.
  • Directs personnel and outside service providers in the proper and efficient maintenance of all Company facilities.
  • Develops a departmental budget.  Monitors expenses so as to maintain established budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensures that activity in area of responsibility is conducted in accordance with the Company's safety program and all related procedures and practices.  Ensures that all subordinates are trained in appropriate safety procedures.
  • Explores, documents and recommends to management new methods and/or systems which when implemented would improve performance in area of responsibility.
  • Performs other related duties as required by business necessity or assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 Years of experience in recruiting, trucking industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources is a plus, BA in Business or MA is a plus
  • Needs to be a leader, positive management skills, creative ideas, and recruiting.

Salary:

  • $150,000 - $200,000.00 for qualified applicants.
