Job Description: Executive Director

The Waynesboro New Hope Shelter offers temporary residence to men, women, and families who do not have a place to live and supports these residents as they look for housing. The New Hope Shelter operates based on Christian principles, following
Jesus’ command to help anyone in need. The shelter provides a temporary, safe,
“family-like” environment for residents as they rebuild their finances and develop a new hope.

The Executive Director manages the daily operations of the shelter and works with the shelter board to set the strategy and direction of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all shelter operations and oversee shelter staff and volunteers
• Meet regularly with residents and ensure that they set goals and are progressing through the steps to leave the shelter
• Supervise shelter staff and volunteers and lead regular staff meetings
• Oversee and support Thrift Store operations and store manager
• Fundraise and manage income to meet shelter budget
• Lead fundraising efforts and write grants to provide shelter income
• Communicate with donors and strengthen those relationships
• Plan direction and ministry of the shelter based on available funding and in coordination with the board of directors
• Manage and track the financial performance of the shelter
• Maintain financial records on a computer, including Thrift Store finances, and provide monthly statements to the board
• Assist with creating an annual budget and maintain the shelter finances based on this budget
• Develop and maintain positive communication with city, county, and state officials

Qualifications:

• College degree preferred
• Experience with managing people
• Working knowledge of the operation of a non-profit organization
• Experience with managing a business budget preferred
• Understanding of fundraising processes and techniques
• Knowledge about homelessness and how to assist this community

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $47,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call

• Waynesboro, PA 17268: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (Required)
