DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES:Under the direction of the Prosecuting Attorney, the Chief of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial matters of the office, including managing and monitoring 34 grants totaling $12.6 million; preparing the annual budget; monitoring the revenue and expenditure accounts for 26 business units; and many other important functions related to the accurate maintenance of financial records.Analyze internal processes, recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve financial operations.Prepare the annual budget for the Prosecutor's Office by projecting expenditures and determining departmental needs.Develop, revise and implement budgetary and administrative policies and procedures.Formulate long range plans and policies with respect to budgetary matters.Provide oversight to finance management team.Draft new financial policies and procedures as required.Develop the accounting policies and procedures.Track revenues and expenditures.Perform quarterly projections.Establish and implement adequate internal accounting controls to safeguard the financial assets.Insure that accurate reconciliations, records management, written communication and timely completion of work assignments are continually practiced by the finance management team.Perform grants management.ELIGIBLE PERSONS:At the time of application, eligible persons must have:EducationBachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related majorExperienceAt least seven (7) years of experience in all aspects of governmental financial operationsWayne County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
