Title: Senior Engineering Manager
Location: 100 Huntington Avenue, 4 Copley Place, Boston, MA 02116
Duties: Develop, modify, and build web-based eCommerce applications to be integrated with our current platforms, working with several large and complex SQL databases. Perform full-stack software development across the full lifecycle of software development. Develop back-end applications and web services using Python, SQL, and PHP. Perform SQL database development, performance tuning, and data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL). Define code test plans and perform unit, integration, functional, and load testing. Produce robust, elegant and scalable software that performs well under high load. Direct system testing and validation procedures. Use creative resources to solve complex business challenges, understanding our needs and risks, and making appropriate technology decisions. Team Leadership responsibilities include goal-setting, roadmap creation, project management, sprint/scrum management, backlog grooming, and developing robust technical documentation. Management responsibilities include management of multiple individual contributors, with performance reviews, one-on-one coaching, and guidance.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a directly related field plus six (6) years of experience in software engineering and managing. Experience must include:
Four (4) years in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
- Version control using GIT or SVN
- Designing back-end applications using PHP, Python, or SQL
Three (3) years in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
- SQL database development including designing queries, triggers, and stored procedures, performance tuning, or data ETL
- Defining test plans and performing unit testing
- Relational database design and conceptualization
- Developing web applications to ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility
- Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design
Will accept a Master’s degree plus four (4) years of described experience.
Experience may be gained before, during, or after issuance of advanced degree.
