Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this salaried role will work with other members of management to keep a strategic focus on the warehouse to ensure it is up to code, including handling building maintenance inspections, looking at safety codes, new design layouts, and procedures. They will confirm and sustain all safety related documents and trainings required for each employee and the area covered. They will ensure we are complying with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, shipping requirements, and regulatory ordinances. They will safeguard the warehouse operations and contents by monitoring security procedures and making any needed modifications. This position will maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing other corporate methods, and knowing safety and operational changes. The Assistant Manager will build the LEAN culture as our company continues the journey through process improvements and measurements. They will oversee new hire orientation for all employees and keep employee training updated. They will also assist in daily operations by coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies/procedures. They also will work with the Operations Supervisor to ensure that there is always coverage on the floor through all break times, and through employee scheduling. This position will ensure warehouse operational requirements are complete by checking on the schedules and specific assignments of employees and following up on work results, as needed. They will help to maintain warehouse staffing by assisting in recruiting and selecting new candidates, as needed. The Assistant Manager will communicate with warehouse employees by coaching, counseling, and providing discipline, as necessary.
It is preferred that applicants have education level of an Associates or Bachelor’s degree. An applicant must have at least 10 years logistics and warehousing experience to ensure that basic materials, equipment, and supplies are available to ensure employees are able to perform their roles and that employee training is complete in order to safely fulfill our corporate mission of meeting customer service expectations on the shipment and receipt of finished product. They must have at least 5 years leadership experience, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision, and also contribute to a team environment. Applicants must have proficient reading, writing, and basic math skills. Also, they must have the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
