Childrens Ministries Coordinator

Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, a diverse, growing church on a 5-acre campus in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, is looking for a part time Childrens Ministry Coordinator. Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and program support to the Children's Ministries Director, especially in the area of childcare and infant-5th grade programming.


Childcare Program Administrator
Responsible for the coordination and management of quality, developmentally appropriate, faith-based childcare as a part of Childrens Ministries as well as that which supports church ministries, programs and/or events.
  • Recruit/hire, train, equip, support, schedule, supervise, and encourage volunteer and paid caregivers
  • Maintain well-supplied, developmentally appropriate, clean and safe childcare classrooms and play areas
  • Plan, adapt and implement developmentally appropriate, Christian curriculum components and/or activities for all Childcare programs
  • Supervise and serve in all situations requiring childcare
Children's Ministries Program Support (Infant through age 5th grade)
  • Alongside the Childrens Ministries Director, oversee the Sunday Morning program, including caregiver staffing, both paid and volunteer for each Sunday
  • Work closely with the Director of Childrens Ministries to plan developmentally appropriate, Christian curriculum components and/or activities
  • Responsible for attendance records using Check-In (Planning Center
  • Maintain a variety of files, records, databases (volunteer/mailchimp), manuals and resource materials as they pertain to childcare, registrations, attendance, training, volunteers, budget, etc.
  • Maintain CM calendar in Planning Center and reserve rooms
  • Ordering/assembling supplies and materials for events

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly in a warm manner both orally and in writing
  • Effective and efficient with assigned tasks, works independently, is self-motivated, and well organized
  • Ability to handle unpredictable situations that require informed and immediate response
  • Computer proficiency in (but not limited to) Google Suite, MailChimp, Planning Center
  • College degree (completed or in progress)
  • Child Development/ECE Units or experience in the field is a plus

Supervises: Childcare staff (paid & volunteer)

Reports to: Director of Childrens Ministries

Hours: 20-24 hrs/week, Range of $23-25/hour

Schedule: Onsite Sundays and other times to be agreed to, weekly Staff Meetings on Tuesdays, work from home flexibility

Back up for: Director of Childrens Ministries
