Security Specialist

SPECIAL RESPONSE OFFICER

Must Be Located on Oahu | 5 Years Experience | Required State of Hawaii Guard Card*

**Pay Starting at $25/HR • 40/HRS a Week • Full-Time **

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication, excellent observational skills and previous surveillance experience. This person should have the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations while exhibiting patience and attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Surveillance – Patrol the buildings as assigned, regularly. If suspicious activity is detected, refer be proactive. Review surveillance cameras and monitor crowds as needed. Establish and review the identification required to enter the building or property. Verify all doors, windows and gates are secure on the property on a rotating schedule. Escort released employees off the property as well as any other trespassers.
• Investigation – Respond to any alerts of suspicious activity. If a person is under suspicion of criminal activity, secure the environment and person, and report to the local authorities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Martial arts background required.
• Customer Service- Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both employees and customers. Greet customer in a professional, welcoming manner and answer any questions they might have
• Required to work for multiple shifts; covering special projects, call offs, vacations and open shifts
• Must be available to work any time and day

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; at least 18 years of age
• Be able to obtain a valid Guard License as requested, must carry the License at all times while on duty
• Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
• Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion. Must have proven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions and materials in strictest confidence. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Current state driver’s license.
• Must possess effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to successfully interact at all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner, including with customers.

PHYSICAL/ MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment), and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports in English.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or sit for long periods, and detain an individual if necessary . May be required to climb stairs on an intermittent basis.
• Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination
• Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
• Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Includes being able to effectively manage multiple employees with diverse personalities and engage them to perform at optimum levels.
• Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of experience in hospitality, working in a high volume restaurant|bar|club preferred
• 21+ years of age
• Possession of State of Hawaii Security Guard Card
• Possession of, or ability to possess a Honolulu Liquor Commission Yellow Card

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

• Nightclub, bar, lounge and|or restaurant environment
• Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to hot and|or cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors for extended periods of time throughout shift
• Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise and crowds, the severity of which depends upon guest volume for extended periods of time throughout shift
• Must be flexible for working shifts, On-call shifts, and days off
• Involves constant public contact
• Fast paced, high volume, high energy and loud working environment
• Hours may be part-time (less than 20 hours per week). Schedules will vary and will coincide with restaurant, nightclub, and|or lounge hours of operations
• Schedule could exceed 40 hours in a week. Management must approve any overtime
• Work hours will vary, including weekends and holidays and late night (3 – 4am)
