Job Description

Job Summary:
The Director of Remote Support and Supportive Technology is responsible for the coordination
of a system of service and support that promotes independent living and maximizes the self-
direction of individuals with disabilities who receive services through the Remote Support and
Monitoring Program. Leading the agency-wide initiative incorporating supportive technology for
all individuals, educating staff, and acting as a resource for all on assistive technology.


Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special
Education, Recreation and/or 2 + years of experience in Social Work or a related
field.
2. At least two years’ experience supporting people with Intellectual/ Developmental
Disabilities.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to work independently and decisively.
5. Supervisory experience with knowledge of DDS regulations and the service planning
process preferred.
6. Driver’s license and driving record that meets WORK Inc.’s screening criteria.


Essential Functions:
1. Determines the nature of the individual’s needs by interviewing the individual and
assessing their independent living needs and interest in various assistive technology
solutions.
2. Establishes a course of action by exploring options and setting goals with the
individual.
3. Maintenance of monthly contact to assure coordination and follow-through.
4. Maintains a record of individual interactions, goals, and progress as part of their ISP.
5. Coordinates and manages on-call phone tree and emergency response to
individuals.
6. With consent from the individual, offers support and resources for their families,
caregivers, and friends who may be supporting the individual with their assistive
technology learning and use.
7. Visit individuals’ homes to observe, supervise, and act as a resource.
8. Work collaboratively and closely with AT providers and sub-contracting companies
who provide remote supports while maintaining the in-person portion of the
support.

9. Maintains relationships with assistive technology companies and stays informed
about new solutions and creates opportunities for individuals to experience new
technology solutions.
10. Travel throughout the local community to publicize and educate the community
about our program.
11. Work with DDS to seek program referrals and follow from intake to service
implementation.
12. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, systems, comprehensive
evaluations and forms.
13. Nurturing positive relationships with individuals, families, guardians, and service
providers.
14. Attends and participates in state-wide Assistive Technology work groups, DDS
collaboratives, and Remote Support roundtables.
15. Network with other providers and funders in the Remote Support and Monitoring
community to ensure best practices.
16. Participates in DDS Quality Assurance (OQE) reviews and CARF accreditation surveys
including preparation and implementation of all requirements for both surveys.
17. Facilitate agency workgroups, training, and education on supportive technology and
serve as a resource for assistive technology

1. Hiring, training, and supervising a staff team and ensuring that their responsibilities are
met.
2. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with WORK Inc.’s company policy
and applicable laws.
3. Planning, assigning, training, and directing work.
4. Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Professional Development
1. Maintain current Training in CPR, First Aid, Human Rights, Positive Behavior Supports,
DPPC, Fire Safety, Standard Precautions, and all required topics.
2. Participate in Supportive Technology training and competencies to remain current in
assistive technology.
3. Attend seminars and training designed to expand and enhance skills, especially specific
to the Individuals supported in Remote Support and Supportive Technology.
4. Participate in scheduled Staff Meetings, Supervision, and Clinical Meetings as specified
by the supervisor.

Mathematical Skills:

1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.
2. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, ability to create and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Communication Demands:
1. The ability to read, analyze and interpret journals, financial reports and legal documents.
2. The ability to respond to common inquiries of complaints.
3. The ability to effectively present information to the Board of Directors, employees, program
participants and members of the business community.

The work is performed in a non-smoking environment. The work is normally performed in a
temperature-controlled zone, however, there are exceptions. The work environment

General requirements:
1. Good standing balance, defined as the ability to stand and walk without a loss of
balance.
2. Full upper extremity range of motion defined as the ability to obtain:
Full shoulder flexion, extension, abduction, and rotation.
Full elbow flexion, extension, supination and pronation.
Full wrist flexion, extension, radial and ulnar deviation.
3 Normal upper extremity strength defined as the ability to move the specified
body part through a full range of motion against maximum resistance.
4. Full lower extremity range of motion defined as the ability to obtain:
Full hip flexion, extension, abduction, adduction and rotation.
Full knee flexion and extension.
Full ankle flexion and extension.
5. Normal lower extremity strength defined as the ability to move the specified
body part through a full range of motion against maximum resistance.
6. Full trunk range of motion as defined by the ability to obtain full flexion and
extension, rotation and side bending.
7. Full cervical range of motion as defined by the ability to obtain full flexion and
extension, lateral flexion and rotation.
