Content Writer

WHM Creative Oakland, CA
  • Expired: 9 days ago. Applications are no longer accepted.

A content writer who can adeptly jump between short-form (compelling headlines) and long-form copywriting (an entire website), who knows how to craft a strong narrative, and who can juggle multiple brand voices — all in a day’s work. Since a lot of our projects are for technology clients, you must have a proven ability to distill complex subject matters into conversational speak and tailor your message to all types of deliverables, including websites, emails, banners, infographics, ebooks, and OOH.

If you think you’re just the kind of hybrid writer we can’t do without, apply here with your resume and portfolio link.

  • Develop new content and concepts under the direction of the ACD or senior copywriter.

  • Partner with design to create a real narrative/story for your ideas (not just clever lines). Think visually.

  • Go beyond the creative brief to discover key insights by researching clients, competitors, industries, products, audiences, and topics. Think strategically.

  • Address feedback and iterate to find the best possible solution.

  • Confidently present work.

  • Ensure clients’ standards and guidelines are followed.

  • Stay on top of emerging trends in copy, design, marketing, and advertising.

  • Share best practices and inspiration around your craft with the larger team.

  • At least 5 years’ experience at an ad agency or client-side marketing org.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills that reach beyond puns, clichés, or expected hard-sell verbiage.
  • Ability to dig into a client’s business to understand the situation, business challenges, target audiences — and to find a strong point of view.
  • Excellent collaboration skills that result in great work and strong relationships with teammates.
  • Self-starter who can prioritize workload (read: time-management and accountability).
  • Can work under tight deadlines, enthusiastically!
  • Ability to monitor multiple projects and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Unrelenting standard for error-free work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and experience working/commenting in Google docs/sheets/slides and PDFs. Familiarity with Keynote for presentations.
  • BA/BS in Journalism, Creative Writing, Communications, and/or an advertising degree.
  • Demand gen writing experience and copy-editor-like attention to detail strongly preferred.
