Municipal Sales Representative

The Municipal Sales Representative is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing sales strategies for the Residential line of business. Responsibilities will include managing a pipeline of leads, exploring new opportunities and retaining a portfolio of accounts to ensure profitable growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Identify viable leads, retain active accounts, and acquire new sales opportunities for the Residential line of business to include municipalities, homeowner associations, and public sectors

•Responsible for initiating and executing the RFP process to include, leading contract negotiations, preparing bids, and delivering proposals for new and existing business

•Communicate and negotiate with customers during pricing initiatives

•Prepare presentations and sales contracts

•Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by managing account services through regular quality check-ins and on-site client visits to ensure quality service is effectively delivered

•Partner with the Operations and Customer Service departments to address customer needs. Document deficiencies and effectively recommend corrective action as appropriate.

•Build relationships and increase company visibility through participation in company sponsored activities, civic and trade shows, Chamber of Commerce events, City Councils/Boards meetings, and other key activities

•Develop and execute daily, monthly and yearly action plans and schedules to ensure all sales goals are met

•Partner with site, district, and corporate leadership to determine strategic objectives for the area in relation to the residential market to include customer prospecting and pricing strategy

•Maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends in a designated market to anticipate changing customer needs; provide effective feedback to area, district, and corporate leadership

•Maintain thorough knowledge of company’s available services per lines of business, pricing structures, and offer additional services specified by customer

•Utilize Salesforce daily, scheduling and documenting all activities for business opportunities

•Performs other job-related duties as assigned



•Bachelor’s degree, five or more years’ experience in consultative sales, or a combination of education and experience

•Valid Driver’s License

•Microsoft Office experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•Knowledge of principles and methods for selling a service. This includes market intelligence, marketing strategies, and sales techniques

•Effective listening, customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve customer concerns with a positive business impact

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members, management, employees and external customers in an efficient and professional manner

•Strong presentation, organizational and time management skills

•Self-managed, with strong work ethic demonstrating integrity and trust

•Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents

•Flexibility to accept and adapt to change, as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement


•Salesforce or other CRM experience

•Solid Waste industry or ancillary experience

•Municipal and/or government sales and marketing or government relation’s experience

•Bilingual: English /Spanish
