MRF Sales Representative

The MRF Sales Representative is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing sales strategies for the WCA Recycling Center line of business.  The position is responsible for managing and retaining a portfolio of accounts, prospecting and adding new business opportunities, and establishing long-lasting business relationships with customers to grow a revenue base of business.  

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify viable leads and acquire new business for the Recycling Center line of business by prospecting, presenting, and closing accounts

Support the retention process by maintaining existing customers and building long lasting business relationships

Partner with sales team members and attend customer meetings

Develop daily, monthly, and yearly action plans and schedules to ensure all sales goals are met

Develop and track volume and revenue of lost business

Meet or exceed all sales activities and monthly revenue goals established by Sales Manager

Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction; communicate to and work with the Sales Manager and MRF Manager to resolve unique customer issues and / or requests

Prepare presentations, proposals, and sales contracts

Implement and manage pricing strategies within all accounts

Maintain thorough knowledge of company's available services per lines of business, pricing structure, and offer additional services specified by prospect

Maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends to anticipate changing customer needs

Build relationships and increase company visibility through participation in company sponsored activities, trade shows, Chamber of Commerce events, and similar activities

Sell within the approved pricing guidelines and execute fees, including but not limited to delivery, environmental, fuel and paper fees

Partner with operations team and customer service department to address customer needs

Utilize Salesforce daily, schedule and document all activities for new business opportunities and effective management of sales pipeline

Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals in addition to quarterly business review presented to sales manager in team meeting

Propose customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies

Perform other job-related duties as assigned



High School Diploma or GED

Three (3) or more years of full-cycle sales experience

Microsoft Office experience

Salesforce or other CRM experience

Valid state-issued driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to generate and manage leads, opportunities and contract negotiations to close business 

Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers

Effective influential, selling, and closing skills  

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers

Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines

Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality

Strong interpersonal skills, including effective presentation and listening skills.

Flexibility to accept and adapt to change, as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement

Demonstrate strong business acumen and ability to work effectively across various teams and levels

Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operation, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service

Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects

Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing

Knowledge of proper lifting techniques


Material Recovery Facility (MRF) experience

Solid Waste Industry or ancillary experience 

Bilingual English / Spanish
