Job Description

The Systems Engineer role is to provide technical support related to MS Windows endpoints and their associated applications, including security and operational stability for internal and external customers. The SE will triage trouble and system change tickets to resolution or route them to the proper team including Senior Engineers and Helpdesk staff. The SE also provides backup support for MS Servers, Cloud Services and SaaS hosted applications. This position is a full-time roll with required occasional travel to our offices located in Denver, CO or Westlake, CA office. 

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for Microsoft based systems for office and remote staff during normal business hours and emergency on-call.
  • Use technologies including Active Directory, GPO, Powershell, SCCM and related tools to support, update and maintain Microsoft Desktops including required patches and updates.
  • Support Senior Systems Engineers with cloud services including AWS, O365 and Azure to maintain existing systems, monitor, expand and integrate as needed.
  • Deploy and support desktop applications including Office plug-ins, Anti-Virus, WebEx, Zoom, MS Teams in an automated fashion (in a Citrix Environment a plus)
  • Use remote support tools for off-domain endpoints such as Bomgar and Syncro
  • Participate as a key member of technical team consisting of other Systems Engineers, Software Developers, DBAs, Network Engineers, Helpdesk and management staff on technical initiatives
  • Stay up to date on current technology and security events, and mentor junior staff to improve process and procedures.
  • Participate in the design of the company overall security posture including remote user management, compliance, reporting and process improvement
  • Document all systems components, track changes and keep documents up to date 
  • Run diagnostics, produce reports, update and/or route trouble tickets to the appropriate team to resolve complex network access and performance challenges down to root cause
  • Respond to queries either in writing or over the phone
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issue has been resolved.
  • Gain feedback from customers about computer usage.


  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work or educational experience required. MCSE, AWS and Azure certification a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience hands-on Microsoft Application products configuration and troubleshooting Servers and Endpoints for on-premise and remote users supporting a 3 tier web application environment.
  • Deep understanding of core systems technology including Citrix, GPO, Roaming Profiles, Folder Re-direction, DNS, RDP, LDAP, authentication systems, performance and availability monitoring and alerting. 
  • Experience working in AWS, Azure, Office 365 from an administrator perspective. Must understand the technical challenges of securing cloud services.
  • Understanding of Identify Management technologies such as SAML, LDAP, AD Sync and OKTA
  • Basic understanding of network functions including TCP/IP, DHCP, routers, switches, ACLs, load balancers, firewalls, WiFi, high availability, VLAN Segmentation and permissions to help support Application Engineers
  • Security minded approach to technology to protect users and the organization as a top priority. Security+ or similar certification a plus. Experience with automation in patch management, CIS Benchmarks and hardening methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills including the use of standard and specialized tools including performance monitoring.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to closely work with and communicate clearly to supervisors, executive staff, end users, peers and vendors
  • High level of attention to detail with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer support and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work under desks as required.
  • Full-time hours required, on premise with additional hours as necessary
  • Occasional U.S. based travel is required.
  • High ethical standards and willingness to learn and teach.

  • Hourly Range*: $36.96 - $49.28 per hour
