Job Description

W&A Engineering is a growing, multidisciplinary firm offering civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and program management with offices across the Southeast. We are seeking a Client Manager to support our Program Management department’s growing needs. This position will join our team of Client Managers who are responsible for overseeing multiple project teams, communicating with clients, and ensuring client’s goals are reached. In this role you will work closely with our clients, project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives. The ideal candidate will manage programs and project teams for optimal return on investment and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives. This person will also be tasked with analyzing, evaluating, and overcoming program risks, as well as producing program reports for management and stakeholders.


  • Develops and enhances strategic business partnerships by building trust with our client's key decision makers to drive client retention
  • Possesses a complete understanding of our client's business objectives, strategic direction, and requirements to proactively demonstrate and deliver increased value through the life cycle of the client
  • Acts as a liaison between the client and W&A, serving as an internal client advocate
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the entire program management process and actively engages in communication among the various business partners
  • Coordinates client projects, resolution of critical service issues, and follow-up to quality survey feedback 
  • Determines the components of projects and prepares comprehensive project plan and scope of all required activities 
  • Communicates status and next steps to the client and appropriate internal partners. 
  • Identifies new service opportunities and coordinates as necessary 
  • Adheres to standard W&A protocol
  • Partners with internal partners as required, to enable seamless delivery of services and strategic planning 
  • Mentors and coaches less tenured or newly hired client managers
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and 10+ years experience in an advanced management role 
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Work experience in a similar role
  • Previous stakeholder management skills
  • Outstanding working knowledge of change management principles and performance evaluation processes 
  • Proven proposal writing experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and networking skills
  • Sufficient knowledge of financial concepts to recognize and address any impact operational and business decisions have on the profitable operation of the company 
  • Strong computer and presentation skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills to formulate solutions to development obstacles
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
  • Have a good working knowledge of industry-related standards and practices
  • Have well developed interpersonal skills and can effectively interface with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field 
  • Program management experience 
  • Development experience 
  • Exposure to the design process and technical expertise 
  • 10+ years in an advanced management role (preference given to those with program management experience)
