Summary

As a member of the Vulcan Marketing team, the Associate Product Manager is responsible for managing new and existing products within several key categories within the Vulcan cooking equipment portfolio. For more than 150 years, Vulcan has been recognized by chefs and operators throughout the world for its top-quality, energy efficient commercial cooking equipment. Our equipment is found in busy kitchens nationwide; target segments include large chain restaurants, emerging/regional chains, independent restaurants, K-12 schools, grocery, and hotel/recreation.

Function

This position reports to the Sr. Marketing Manager and is responsible for leading competitive product analysis, product gap analysis and sustaining portfolio activities and supporting product development activities in partnership with Engineering, Operations and Sales for several Vulcan categories. The Associate Product Manager will also oversee Vulcan’s best-in-class training program for foodservice equipment dealers.

Responsibilities

Vulcan Experience:

  • Manage annual Vulcan Experience, comprised of 10-12 training sessions, held in Baltimore, MD.

  • Work with internal Business Development Managers to ensure training content consistency and relevancy.

  • Serve as onsite point-of-contact for BDMs, Vulcan reps and dealer attendees.

  • Manage logistics for each session

    • Monitor and organize attendance via online sign-up site.

    • Welcome and follow up emails to attendees, as needed.

    • Organize rooming logistics for reps, dealer attendees and training staff.

    • Assist with training set-up.

    • Menu planning and procurement for on-site meals during training.

    • Procure promo items for attendees.

    • Coordinate evening activities including dinners and other team-building activities

  • Assist with additional trainings and customer visits as needed.

Market/Customer Insight:

  • Develop processes and systems that generate continuous market intelligence data from targeted end-user market segments through customer interviews, market research and channel knowledge. Build a deep understanding of how our products and brands stack up vs. competition.

    • Publish quarterly customer insights report, utilizing social listening methods to gauge current online reputation.

    • Conduct deep and actionable competitive product analysis.

    • Work closely with Engineering to establish competitive testing data – identifying competitors, types of equipment and metrics.

  • Make recommendations on strategic pricing relative to customer expectation, perceived value of our products/brands for the differentiation we provide, and relative to competitive levels.

Sales Enablement:

  • Works alongside Business Unit Manager and BDM to develop and execute on dealer and end user driven targeted selling strategies in order to achieve organic growth targets.

  • Evaluates and reports on product performance – pricing, sales volume, margins, and market share – to maximize growth of existing product portfolio.

New Product Development:

  • Aids in the creation of product strategies, plans, and roadmaps to grow the business.

  • Assist with the research and definition of strategies for new product development to deliver innovative customized product offerings that address the major needs and problems of core end-user market segments.

  • Serve as the Marketing lead for all Stage Gate projects in Baltimore

  • Work with Marketing Specialist to develop and execute launch plans and marketing communications programs (offline, digital, trade shows).


Education

BS or BA degree in marketing, business administration or engineering

Experience

~5-7 years of relevant product marketing/development experience
