Vorys has an amazing opportunity for a Infrastructure Engineer with Azure and open source DevOps experience.

As part of the Vorys IT team, you will support a variety of technologies that our law practice relies on, including the fast-paced, fast-growing data analytics practice. Successful candidates will be familiar with technologies such as Azure Synapse and Data Bricks, and at least some of following: Terraform, Ansible, Chef Puppet, Saltstack and Git. Experience implementing a DevOps environment is a plus.

This position is part of an 8 member team that supports the operations of the Firm, including desktop, server, phones, and cloud based technologies.

Position Summary:

The Infrastructure Engineer will provide leadership and positive influence to support the operations of a secure and highly available computing platform. This position will provide support to the Firm's on premise servers and Cloud Infrastructure by architecting, developing, and maintaining a safe and reliable computing environment. The Infrastructure Engineer will provide DevOps support, working with both Azure workloads and open source software.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze and resolve infrastructure problems with on premise and cloud based applications. Conduct root cause analysis. Implement security policies and monitor for threats. Create and maintain documentation for servers, applications, processes, and systems both on premise and cloud based.
  • Develop test scripts to support change control verification, including the development of a DEVOPS environment. Clearly communicate all testing and changes to appropriate parties and document in the change calendar.
  • Work closely with vendors in regard to licensing, architecture and design, implementation planning, and support for the software development life cycle. Perform cost and performance analysis on architectural design to drive a cost effective solution.
  • Establish and maintain baselines, performance monitoring, maintenance procedures, and appropriate backups for each server and/or application. Monitor and tune Servers and cloud based applications for optimal performance. Recommend upgrades to enhance existing systems and add efficiencies.
  • Report security issues when appropriate and gather required information. Analyze audit trails to detect systematic security violations. Make recommendations to improve security and participate in investigations as needed. Ensure adherence to security requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience working in a technical environment with first, second, and third level support responsibilities, responding to service level agreements, and documenting resolutions in a ticketing system.
  • Experience supporting remote access technologies such as remote desktop services and multi factor authentication technologies. Familiarity with cloud based tools such as: Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Saltstack.
  • Experience with on premise server and Azure performance monitoring tools. Create, modify, and delete Azure resources. Diagnose failed pipeline runs, Azure functions, resource constraints or other performance issues related to the Azure environment.
  • SQL Administration, or SQL programming experience with MS SQL server, or Azure SQL. Experience with Azure hosted environments and using tools such as GitHub for version control. Experience with on premise hardware virtualization technology and capacity planning.
  • Experience with supporting identity access management using Active Directory , Azure AD, and Azure Key vault technologies. Develop and optimize a robust security model framework based on user roles and access requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as cloud based Kubernetes Services and docker-swarm technology.
  • PowerShell, .net programming languages, visual basic, or Scripting
  • Backup system support and SMTP gateway products
  • Storage management, including both local storage hardware and cloud storage systems.
  • Experience with Law Firm applications such as a financial and timekeeping systems, Contact management, and Document Management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or combination of equivalent education and experience required.
  • 10 or more years of experience in similar field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with hosted Azure application support.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with Microsoft SQL, Azure SQL, AD or Azure AD.
  • Experience with developing standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex troubleshooting.
