US Distribution Center Manager

Manage warehouse operations located in the US including employee safety, union labor management, inbound receiving performance, outbound CSP performance, and warehouse cost management. This position is responsible for over $8.0 million in warehouse costs.


  • Responsible for all distribution operations and support.
  • Drive the design, development, implementation, and management of distribution solutions for customers.
  • Effectively align short-term project objectives with long-term department and company vision.
  • Ensure efficient product flow and strategies are developed and implemented to meet product demand.
  • Identify variances and coordinate distribution management reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ascertain industry best practices to identify new and /or unique programs to differentiate Vollrath within the marketplace and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as liaison with all internal and external partners for daily operational activities.
  • Track, analyze and communicate key performance metrics.
  • Facilitate team meetings effectively.
  • Motivate team members to work independently and as a team toward project objectives.
  • Apply DMAIC Problem-solving methodology where appropriate.
  • Follow Company policies and practices while representing Vollrath in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, governmental agencies, suppliers, customers, etc.
  • Ensure the security of Vollrath's confidential and proprietary information and materials.
  • Working with processes and systems for operational optimization.
  • Manage multi-shift supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 5 - 7 years of Distribution/Warehouse Management experience required.
  • 4 - 5 years of managing a team including experience successfully directing, managing and motivation employees and building effective teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with Process Improvement efforts
  • Experience identifying potential roadblocks and obstacles to organizational projects.
  • Passionate, humble, trustworthy.
  • Process improvement capability with Lean Six Sigma techniques.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Proficiency with computer software/programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Excellent communicator with solid oral and written skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP - based systems.
  • Hands-on WMS/TMS experience.
  • Experience with supply chain professional organizations such as the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals or Warehousing Education and Research Council.
