Job Title: Process Engineer

Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for optimization of current processes as well as researching and developing new processes for manufacturing products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explores and adopts new approaches for manufacturing current and new products to improve production efficiency
- Supports the development and transfer of process improvements and new products, including feasibility studies, scale-up, pre-validation development, validation, and post-validation evaluations such as trending of critical quality attributes and continuous process improvement
- Explores and adopts automation possibilities to improve production efficiency
- Leads project planning and project management of manufacturing upgrades
- Manages costs to maximize profitability without compromising quality
- Improvises and adapts as necessary to overcome manufacturing obstacles
- Perform troubleshooting on products, equipment and systems
- Assists with customer technical troubleshooting and support
- Ensures that manufacturing processes meet internal and external requirements
- Monitors and improves product quality by identifying issues through trend and investigational data and conducting/leading problem-solving using root cause analysis; provides technical impact assessments as required for QA to disposition impacted products
- Follows all policies, protocols, and SOPs including all applicable regulatory and Environmental Health and Safety regulations
- All other activities commensurate with the role, as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational and process improvement skills
- Good information technology skills, including proficiency with MS Office and other business software
- Demonstrated competence in experimental design, problem solving, analytics and project management
Desired Qualifications and Experiences:
- A minimum of three (3) years in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, or similarly regulated environment supporting commercial manufacturing or product development
- Additional training or experience, such as Lean Six Sigma, New Product Introduction, Statistical Process Control, Technical Writing, Product Lifecycle Management, Design of Experiments, or Validation
Education, Licenses and Certifications:
- Bachelors or equivalent degree in Engineering, Scientific, or related technical field is required. Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) is highly recommended.
Physical Requirements for the Job:
- Position works with staff in various locations. Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Pay Range Data:
- We anticipate filling this position at a range between $65k and $85k annually. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
