We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Operations Manager at our growing manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be responsible to manage the inventory of the warehouse and production floor, plan processes to determine what should be ordered, ensure materials are well distributed across the plant, and ensure material levels are maintained for production.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible and accountable for all material movement and logistics to support on-site operations.
- Establish and maintain a safe work environment for all employees including standards of operation for PIV (Powered industrial vehicles) according to company policy and regulations
- Directs production and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage.
- Participates in production planning and scheduling based on sales forecasts.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Works with purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Oversees shipping and receiving functions related to purchased production parts, finished goods, and MRO supplies.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
- Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
- Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing monthly and year-end physical inventory.
- Role model for leadership, deployment of operating system, and developing others
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.
- Experience in a supervisor role.
- At least 5 years of experience in materials control field required.
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated practice with lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
- Proficient with inventory reporting systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
