Our client, a well-funded start-up in the Biotechnologies industry is hiring a Business Analyst with experience performing market research, data analysis and financial modeling, create and manage dashboards, reports and workbooks with a focus on supporting a growing business development team and work cross functionally with product and executives.  This position can be remote or located onsite in Raleigh-Durham or Denver!

Job Description


  • Scope, evaluate, and analyze various business opportunities and draft, update, and maintain business plans and financial models.
  • Perform market research and data analysis on existing and new product opportunities to advance our understanding of market sizes, growth, trends.
  • Preform competitive analysis to support new product efforts or better understand the Synthetic Biology competitive landscape.
  • Identify relevant secondary market research reports and engage directly with the market through market interviews and discussions to advance market knowledge.
  • Create and manage opportunity reports, dashboards, and workbooks.
  • Take ownership in business opportunities, working closely with the Business Development team, to drive solutions and optimize approaches.
  • Support Product Managers and development projects by performing relevant market research, cost modeling, and financial analysis.
  • Participate in establishing best practices, templates, policies, and tools improve the productivity and communications within the Business Development team


  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Some coursework in a technical field (engineering or science) would be advantageous.
  • 3+ years of market and business analyst experience.
  • 3+ years of experience financial modeling.
  • 3+ years of report writing and presentation.
  • Motivated and comfortable adapting to change and competing demands
  •  Instinct to ask relevant probing questions that get to the "why" behind business requests
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate insights and influence buy-in to stakeholders & senior leaders
  • Experience with software applications including Microsoft Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Power Point, and Word.
