The Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting is a key member of the leadership team of LAS, and captains the Finance & Accounting Department and its staff. This role directs the financial reporting and treasury functions for LAS, as well as the other operating companies impacting and supported by the company’s efforts.
This officer maintains the proper staffing of the department with qualified accountants and accounting specialists. He/She directs the maintenance of the books of account in good order in accordance with the applicable GAAP guidance for both Financial Statements and Tax Return filings. The Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting reports directly to the President, and the Executive Vice President.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Executes the company’s financial strategy.
Directs the payroll, vendor payments, and receipts and recording of all income functions of the company.
Assures the accurate posting of accounts and the proper functioning of financial internal controls.
Assures proper maintenance of all files and data for LAS business operations with accuracy and efficiency.
Works with the President and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities concerning the financial aspects of the business operations.
Directs the Treasury functions of the company, maintaining bank relationships, and overseeing the proper handling and use of all company funds.
Assures the timely filing of all tax returns and company reporting to government agencies.
Works with Auditors to assure the timely publishing of the annual financial statements.
Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Embraces continuous quality improvement methodologies and creates business value through technology, ensuring the technology systems and procedures lead to outcomes in line with institution goals.
Ensures availability of timely and reliable information in the organization through technology/digital platforms.
Mentors and assesses staff’s professional training needs, and directs the enhancement of the team.
REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting, or equivalent experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Public Accountant certification strongly desired.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting and financial management practices.
Experience in a senior management position.
Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
Solid GAAP, and managerial financial analysis, and financial reporting technical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) applications, QuickBooks and other generally used business software.
Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically in a businesslike fashion, oral & written.
Ability to manage others and direct their work, and build relationships and support department managers.
Ability to plan, and organize and think strategically, and to create accurate budgets.
Ability to oversee and interact efficiently with external auditors and the timely filing of tax returns and reports.
Ability to lawfully work in the U.S.
This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Must be able to properly operate office equipment.
Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, leadership team, supervisors, vendors and all business associates within or outside the company.
Requires good lighting at work area to facilitate detail work and efficiency.
