JOB TITLE: Senior Systems Administrator

REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology

SUMMARY: The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing escalation support to the IT support staff, analyzing, configuring, designing, implementing, managing and monitoring the organization’s computer systems. The Senior Systems Administrator will work as part of a team to monitor and maintain systems in a highly available production environment and have a proven history of using administrative tools, assisting IT staff and performing advanced administration tasks. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Microsoft operating systems and related software technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

• Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including databases, servers, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Monitor the performance and availability of the IT infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance.
• Implement and manage the organization's backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Manage and maintain the organization's virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere and Citrix XenApp.
• Monitor and manage the organization's security infrastructure, including SonicWall firewalls and other security technologies.
• Work with the IT Director and Systems Administrator to plan and implement IT projects and initiatives.
• Assist with managing the organization's IT vendor relationships.
• Manage the organization's AWS infrastructure, including all EC2, S3, and RDS instances.
• Manage company RDS MySQL databases, provide database changes as required and produce reports on an as needed basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Five years of experience in role supporting infrastructure including but not limited to VMware vSphere, Citrix XenApp, SonicWall, Veeam, AWS, Azure, Active Directory, Windows server.
• Three to five years’ experience in database management. Microsoft SQL or MySQL preferred.
• Strong technical skills in IT infrastructure management, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk including climbing stairs. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting and reaching for some of his/her job duties.

Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.

Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.

There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 40 lbs.
