SEAC Peer Mentor

Schedule: Mon- Fri 9:00am-5:00pm (some nights nd weekends for events) Salary: 18.35 / hour The Young Adult Peer Mentor is a young adult (YA) who has personal experience living with and recovering from mental health needs, substance misuse, and/or traumatic life concerns. He/she/they has experienced challenges in one or more areas that interfered significantly with his/her/their everyday life. The Young Adult Peer Mentor is essential in welcoming new Youth and Young Adults (YYA) to services and to the activities offered at the SEAC.
The Young Adult Peer Mentor is key in supporting Youth and Young Adults as they drive their High-Fidelity Wraparound Team using Achieve My Plan (AMP). Responsibilities include: * Works with the YYA (if chosen) to enhance skills of self-direction and empowerment * Provides 1:1 support, coaching, and modeling to support and improve engagement in services * Carries caseload of 10 YYA for the purposes of providing individual 1:1 peer mentoring * Provides the core staffing for the SEAC * Uses the Young Adult Peer Mentoring Practice Profile to define role * Provides outreach and marketing efforts to educate YYA and other stakeholders in the community about the program and services * Additional duties as assigned Response to Covid-19 Our response to promote safety during the coronavirus includes: * Hiring process conducted via virtual and phone interviews * Virtual New Employee Orientation * Increased sanitation measures in all programs and group homes * PPE provided to all positions working closely with others Why Vinfen? A 2nd dose must be received within six weeks of hire and the first shot prior to New Employee Orientation or have an approved exemption for medical or religious reasons by the first day of employment with Vinfen. * * A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in a human services discipline strongly preferred * Experience as a recipient of services for people with psychiatric conditions and be well along in own personal recovery (self-knowledge and habits needed to support one's own health) required. * One year experience working with Youth and Young Adults experiencing co-occurring disorders in addition to psychiatric conditions required. * All applicants must be able to become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment Certified Peer Specialist or successfully complete the Core Elements of Young Adult Peer Mentoring Training by six months of hire * All candidates must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, and driving record check * Access to an operational and insured vehicle and willing to use it to transport Youth and Young Adults strongly preferred * A valid drive
