Job Description

Position Overview:

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control & SQF program at TPC, designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through designee. Oversight, maintenance and compliance to the facility HACCP, SSOP’s, GMP’s, SQF, ABF Program of Slaughter and Manufacturing facility. Candidate must be HACCP & GFSI certified.

 

Specific Duties:

  • If a HACCP, SSOP, SOP, GMP, Prerequisite or supporting documents deviation has occurred, complete all necessary corrective and Preventive documentation. Review documents with the Quality Control Supervisor prior to submitting to the USDA or QA Manager. If an NR has been issued by the USDA, answer all NR’s, and make sure all actions have taken place as stated in the response with the QA team.
  • Proofread all documents for grammar and spelling error.
  • File all HACCP/SSOP documents daily and keep up to date with daily documentation. Place/file documents into locked area (QA office). Destroy as required by HACCP and SQF.
  • Must be able to work with USDA and management at a professional level.
  • Must be very organized
  • When necessary, conduct or assist Quality Assurance Supervisor in training of employees on GMPs, SSOPs, SQF and CCP’s.
  • Update all GMP’s and HACCP training materials to include plant registers as needed with QA team.
  • Sign all necessary documents daily for Quality Assurance Supervisor to review.
  • Have a good understanding of all SOP’s in Document Registry to enforce and make sure they are being followed at facility.
  • Submit all yearly regulatory and SQF required forms and applications as needed for TPC.
  • The ability to direct all employees assigned to your area to include discipline action up to termination. The ability to stop operations to protect product quality and food safety.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Supervisor when necessary for all monthly and quarterly audits along with other managers as required by SQF.
  • Communicate quality issues to Quality Assurance Supervisor.
  • Must pay close attention to detail regarding GMP’s being followed by all employees in production as well as being aware of your surroundings and reporting to QA Supervisor any feedback to improve procedures in place.
  • This job position requires good attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested by upper management.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or High School diploma or GED with experience in related field preferred in a high-volume manufacturing. Demonstrated experience and strong commitment to meeting internal customer requirements and continuous improvement objectives. HACCP & GFSI Certified.

 

Language: Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from personnel inside the company. Ability to train policies & regulatory requirements.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to formulate product formulations and run nutritional facts.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited direction exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or other form.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, organize, and prioritize workload, excellent plant regulatory & HACCP skills.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. To perform assigned duties the following will occur: Standing on one’s feet for long periods of time, walking, looking up, down and lifting. The employee is regularly required to sit or stand, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
