SERVICE TECHNICIAN Water Distribution Department Salary Ranges: Service Technician II: $32,902 - $52,643 Service Technician I: $31,200 - $47,000 Service Technician Trainee: $31,200 - $39,000 The Village is currently accepting applications for a Service Technician. The position requires unskilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of Village water facilities, distribution and stormwater systems, and water meter reading. The Trainee position is entry-level while Technician I and II require additional experience and licenses.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferred candidate must have: • ALL - High School diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license and safe driving record • TRAINEE - One (1) year experience in utility, maintenance or construction (utility experience preferred). Required to obtain Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) level "3" Water Distribution license by 18 months of employment • SERVICE TECHNICIAN I - One (1) year experience in utility, maintenance or construction (utility preferred) and a current FDEP level "3" Water Distribution, and/or Level "C" Stormwater license • SERVICE TECHNICIAN II - Three (3) years experience in utility, maintenance or construction and FDEP level "2" Water Distribution, and/or Level "B" Stormwater license Duties and Responsibilities • Inspects, maintains and/or repairs utility infrastructure, including water meters, fire hydrants, water service lines, stormwater and irrigation systems • Performs construction/maintenance involved in installing, repairs, inspection and cleaning of water service and stormwater mains/pipes, including pavement repair and ditch digging • Reads water meter dials and provides accurate data for utility billing. • Performs water service disconnects, reconnects and new service orders as directed. • Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipe, gate valve and fittings on repair of mains and services and installation of services, fire hydrants • Operates a variety of powered construction and maintenance equipment used in the Utilities Department, including but not limited to bobcat, backhoe/loader.
