Sales and Marketing Representative - Baltimore

The Vicinity Energy Sales and Marketing Representative will independently manage customer requests and business requirements and will develop and maintain long-term relationships with district energy system customers in Baltimore. The representative has responsibility for day-to-day management of a share of over 200 customer accounts for the district energy system including customer satisfaction in all business transactions with the goal to retain and grow the account sales. The representative is also responsible for identifying and developing long-term, integrated, energy services contracts and will develop and pursue new business opportunities by establishing strong relationships with existing and potential clients in Baltimore.

Scope & Responsibilities:

· Retain and grow relationships and business opportunities with assigned customer accounts. Emphasis will be on ability to “close” contracts

· Develop and maintain a quality relationship with customers at the operations & executive level

· Promote new programs, products and services to meet annual business plans and growth objectives

· Lead negotiations including preparation of contracts and possible structuring of financing solutions

· Participate in company sponsored activities and professional associations to ensure an active and effective outreach program in the business and customer community

· Maintain an active and accurate customer contact database for all assigned customers for reporting of customer activities, marketing conditions and promotional materials

· Assist with billing and collections of customer accounts

· Manage a quality customer relationship to address and resolve any billing disputes or collections issues

· Identify potential customers and develop relationships with key decision makers in the customer organization in order to assess opportunities with the company

· Perform proposal preparation including pricing and financial modeling, and presentations to customers

· Develop annually and update quarterly a business plan to meet and track business plan objectives

· Formulate and write technical proposals reflecting the strategic approach towards developing a new project

· Must serve as a close liaison with other members in the Vicinity team (operations, finance, legal, insurance, risk management, etc.) throughout the entire sales process

· Responding to customer service issues, coordinating service interruptions, and seasonal turn ons/ turn offs with customers, and other customer account management activities

· Assess competitor strengths, weaknesses and strategic direction

· Other job duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

· Bachelors degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (industrial, utilities, or HVAC)

· Proven experience working in the U.S. energy markets preferred (district energy, natural gas, oil, coal and/or electricity) with a specific focus in Maryland. If no experience in the energy market, candidate must have the aptitude to understand and learn technical aspect of business.

· 5 - 7 years’ experience in sales, account management, and business development, preferably within the Energy & Utilities industry, providing technical, business and financial solutions

· Strong ability to interpret, develop and negotiate intricate agreements; influencing long term sales contracts

· Strong financial and analytical skills to evaluate options and understand competitive positions required to meet internal hurdles and successfully negotiate contracted business with customers

· Thorough working knowledge of financial aspects of the business, including how to calculate ROI by utilizing sophisticated financial models using Microsoft Excel

· Proven experience in developing technical and business requirements

· Ability to build rapport with clients and listen to their needs in order to create customized client solutions

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team atmosphere with many departments

· Strong customer orientation and focus; all experienced through sales relationships, technical services and or customer service background

· Achievement oriented – adaptable to changing markets and customer needs while maintaining focus on desired goals

· Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, CCB, and Salesforce

· Prefer knowledge of energy service contracts

· Proven track record in closing complex deals
