Job Description

In a Nutshell: The Home Equity Specialist actively works home equity and second mortgage opportunities by making outbound phone calls, taking inbound calls, and video banking opportunities as well as referrals from other team members. The Home Equity Specialist is highly organized in their process and possesses strong communication skills. They kick off the loan process with the application and finish the loan by closing with the members. The Equity Specialist will be responsible for carrying out lending policies as established and cross sells credit union products and services.


The Nitty Gritty

Loan Process: Assists in exceeding department sales goals by being constantly available to work with members during the equity loan process. Interviews members for applications via phone and video calls and offer suitable products and services that meet member's ongoing financial needs. Maintains a strong working knowledge of Equity and Mortgage products and services and has the ability to explain their features, terms, conditions, and benefits to successfully promote and cross sell all Vibrant products.

Outstanding Service: Provides excellent member service 100% of the time. Responds to member and staff questions via phone, email, or in person in an efficient, friendly, and accurate manner.

Provide Financial Counsel: Gather background information by interviewing loan applicants and obtaining credit reports. Advises or counsels members about their financial options. Educates and leads members through the mortgage process by providing expert advice.

Account and Loan Administration: Analyzes applicant financial status, credit history, and security offered as collateral in order to make an informed loan decision. Collects and verifies supportive documentation for loan files as required by underwriting guidelines.

Focus on Ongoing Professional Development: Actively learns Vibrant's mortgage process. Focuses on becoming an expert in the mortgage industry. Seeks out educational opportunities in the mortgage industry along with sales skills development. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Do you have what it takes?

  1. High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.

  2. One to three years of related experience or training.

  3. Prior sales experience is desirable

To be successful in this position, an individual must be sales driven, organized, dependable, detail-oriented, personable, and tactful. This individual should also possess excellent verbal communication skills and mathematical reasoning ability. They must understand all Vibrant Credit Union products and services. It is essential that this individual understand and abide by the strict confidentiality policies that are necessary in any financial institution.
