Starting Salary Wage: $38,537

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Program Support Clerk.

As a Program Support Clerk, candidate will be responsible for creating and disseminating contracts; administrative support to the Human Resource Specialists (Recruitment and Staffing) in the VCS Central Office and maintaining effective relationships with local Human Resource Offices.

DUTIES:

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Determines file retention and disposal schedule, arrange records for storage/reference.
• Prepares documents and correspondence for supervisor's review and signature.
• Sorts and distributes incoming mail. Handles all outgoing mail ensuring the appropriate means of transmittal is used. Types and proofs correspondence for distribution and logs documents as per department standards.
• Acquires data as requested and per department standards. Input data into pre-established systems or when no pre-established system is in place present as needed. Calls vendors to confirm receipt or purchase orders and to determine delivery status/schedule.
• Establishes line items as requested updates pricing, description and reviews established line items for error. Communicate item and purchase order status to interested parties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• 1-2 years of experience with knowledge of office automation equipment/functions, computers, copiers, scanners, Microsoft Office (Including Excel and Word) etc.
• Posses effective communication skills
• Must be able to multi-task effectively and meet deadlines

HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.

These HCP may include, but are not limited to, emergency medical service personnel, nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, technicians, therapists, phlebotomists, pharmacists, health professions trainees (HPTs), contractor personnel, and persons (e.g., clerical, dietary, environmental services, laundry, security, maintenance, engineering and facilities management, administrative, billing, and volunteer personnel) not directly involved in patient care but potentially exposed to infectious agents that can be transmitted from HCP and patients.
