The Senior Management Advisor assists the Deputy Under Secretary for
Field Operations (DUSFO) in determining organization goals and
objectives and develops short and long-range plans to accomplish
these goals. The incumbent oversees the development and evaluation
of policies, plans, regulations, standards, and procedures necessary
to effectively implement agency-wide programs in the area of VBA
benefits and services for Veterans, family members and survivors.

The Senior Management Advisor is located in the Office of Field
Operations and reports to the Deputy Under Secretary for Field
Operations (DUSFO). The responsibilities include, but are not
- Provides on going day to day leadership on operational matters

(USB) on the development of VBA level processes related to the
delivery of VBA benefit programs.

warrant additional emphasis and assures the implementation of
approved policy initiatives that serve to enhance program
- Coordinates VBA's responses to external requirements and

- Uses extensive knowledge of VBA/VA programs and operations to
conflicting interpretations and differences. Participates fully
in discussions that establish overall goals, objectives, and
long-range plans for the Office of Field Operations. Provides
specific recommendations to the DUSFO and Assistant DUSFOs and
implements decisions made by the DUSFO.
- Assists in preparing the DUSFO for congressional and budget
- Briefs congressional staffers and Office of Management and
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Demonstrated experience in developing and overseeing the
implementation of Veterans Benefits Administration's (VBA)services
and benefits, strategic goals, plans, legislation, regulations,
policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience providing guidance
to Senior Leadership on high-level topics and projects.
