The Department Head, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine oversees and
supervises a department with approximately 88 employees, including
radiologists, technologists, and support staff which produce an
annual volume of over 80,000 radiology studies.

The department consists of seven sections representing each of seven
modalities: Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography, Nuclear
Medicine. Department Head responsibilities include evaluation and
selection of imaging equipment, recruitment, hiring and supervision
of staff, and optimization of work flow in each modality at the main
hospital and at multiple outpatient clinics at the FHCC and at the
Great Lakes Navy Base. The Department Head also supervises
educational activities in the department, including medical students
from Chicago Medical School, medicine residents from the FHCC, and
Radiologic Technology students from the College of Lake County.
Responsibilities also include supervision of quality assurance and
peer review for radiologists and technologists and oversight of
quality improvement efforts and the radiation and MRI safety

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
