This position is assigned to the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System, Harlingen, TX, in Psychiatry Service. The selectee will provide technical guidance to subordinate support staff positions in Psychiatry Service.
This position will serve as a Management Assistant to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Mental Health and the Mental Health Administrative Officer. Coordinate, gather, and analyze information and author documents in support of the ACOS for Mental Health Product and the Mental Health Administrative Officer. Integrating, coordinating and managing a multitude of administrative functions for the mental health clinics and providers at all five VA sites (Harlingen OPC, Health Care Center at Harlingen, McAllen OPC, Corpus Christi OPC, Laredo OPC) as well as non-VA sites of care ( e.g., MHN1R telehealth sites and contract care sites). Knowledge and extensive understanding of management principles and processes necessary to analyze and evaluate available resources in support of the ACOS for Mental Health Product line and Mental Health Administrative Officer. Management analysis and/or program analysis and the structures, functions, processes, objectives, products, services, as well as the resource requirements necessary to manage a complex organization. Manages the Peer Review process in Psychiatry and Psychology Service. Develops, analyzes, and contributes information for the respective disciplines and programs in support of the Mental Health Product Line dashboard/scorecard. Manages the administrative data for annual provider performance reviews and six-part folders. Develops information related to periodic performance reviews using multiple electronic data sources, evaluates the information and provides continuous improvement recommendations for mental health leadership consideration. Compiles, analyzes, and interprets information in support of the product line business plans. Tracks equipment, the standard rate of equipment attrition, and makes recommendation during the business planning process for relative replacement needs. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
