This position is located in the Housekeeping Section of Environmental Management Service at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) Seattle, Tacoma or Fort Lawton Campuses. Housekeeping Aids function under the supervision of a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor. The incumbent may be assigned to any area of the Medical Center, i.e., administrative areas, clinic areas, patient care areas, research areas, public areas, trash, recycling, changing cubicle curtains, and/or off-station areas.

As a Housekeeping Aid you will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms and other areas.
- Housekeeping Aids sweep, mop, scrub (machine) floors, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.
- Empty waste baskets, clean light globes and venetian blinds.
- Wash walls, windows and ceilings with climbing small ladders.
- Refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers.
- Housekeeping Aids carry out assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Please note we only have full time positions. Work schedules will be based off the needs of the facility and will be determined by management.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent must be in good physical condition to perform work that is required. Duties required continuous walking, standing, stooping, lifting and working on ladders and scaffolding. Strenuous physical effort is often needed in the performance of tasks with an average lifting weight of 25 pounds and a maximum weight of 65 pounds.
The incumbent should observe aseptic and safety precautions while working in assigned areas. Exposure to contagious disease is possible. Work is performed indoors under favorable temperature, ventilation, lighting and atmospheric conditions. Incumbent will be available to work any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.
