Job Description

Seeking a US Military Veteran, National Guardsman, Reservist and/or Military Spouse to work as a Biomedical Equipment Technician. Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and verify performance of complex biomedical equipment. The job requires an Associates in technical/electronics field, 5 years working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment, and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities: Veteran Military
Technical Service (40%)

  • Do performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on complex biomedical equipment
  • Repair, install, and calibrate complex and intricate biomedical equipment
  • Inform supervisors of status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations and customer concerns
  • Work, direct and document activities of subcontractors, vendors and outside service techs for proper service delivery
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education
  • Lead Service Operations Special Projects. Travel to sites and work with Central Office associates for collection and analysis of information and data pertaining to special assignments

Regulatory Compliance (25%)

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of equipment database to include inventory, performance assurance schedules, nomenclature, and service history. Ensure service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
  • Adhere to Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), regulatory agency compliances and applicable policies and procedures

Account Relationship Management (25%)

  • Build and maintain customer relationships and discuss equipment status and functionality with clinicians
  • Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinicians

Inventory (10 %)

  • Perform periodic inspections of current inventory status
  • Verify completion of security analysis for new customer equipment
  • Complete Incoming Inspections (II) to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of 1) medical devices, 2) trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment and 3) permanently assigned equipment
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of equipment database, inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, and service history. Make recommendations regarding inventory


Requirements: Veteran Military

  • US Veteran, National Guardsman, Reservist or Military Spouse
  • Associates in technical/electronics field or equivalent military training required
  • Bachelors in engineering technology and Technical Certification (CBET) preferred
  • 5 years working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment
  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depend on primary site
  • Complex computer skills required, including the ability to administrate a system, interpret error codes, defragment hard-drives, replace power supplies, interpret computer codes, and apply networking concepts
  • Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
