Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing engineering assignments and projects across Vertellus. The role involves concept development, detailed planning, budget development, design management, and implementation phases of an engineering project. The Project Engineer will deliver successful projects assuring that manufacturing facilities are provided with the safest, technically sound, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Some travel between the Vertellus manufacturing sites will be required.

Responsibilities:

Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Corporate engineering role with responsibility on assigned projects for the planning, design, and implementation of new processes and facility expansions
  • May serve as an individual team member providing direct engineering expertise on large global projects or may perform the role of technical team leadership with multiple engineering functions reporting into this position on unique project assignments
  • Effectively manages all aspects of an assignment from cradle to grave by assuming complete project control and accountability of design, construction, and commissioning
  • Fulfills the role of project manager through effective communication, organization, and coordination of projects.
  • Engineering projects will be implemented safely while achieving schedule, budget, and production targets
  • Develops and drive realistic action plans which define the project tasks and schedule meets project goals and expectations, and ultimately satisfy the needs of the manufacturing site
  • Demonstrates effective use of project management tools to develop the scope of deliverables and engineered solutions for each project assignment
  • Demonstrates ability to develop a degree of understanding of equipment and chemical processes being modified, upgraded, or installed on each project, which is key to an efficient, successful implementation of the project.
  • During project management, the engineer will develop estimated costs, specifications, equipment requisitions, and construction scope of work documents
  • Assesses regulatory and compliance requirements and engages appropriate internal and external subject matter experts to assure project implementation is delivered in accordance with all applicable codes
  • Assesses the requirements of the assignment and uses engineering knowledge to recommend and implement the most technically viable solution
  • In addition to project engineering/management assignments, the candidate may support site management teams with engineering prioritization and problem-solving efforts to assist in corrective actions during manufacturing interruptions

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required


Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on plant experience with emphasis on chemical plant operations
  • Preferred 5+ years with leading capital projects

  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills with the ability to flex own style as needed to influence and drive results
  • Demonstrated high technical aptitude as well as analytical and spatial reasoning skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs & priorities
  • Proven ingenuity for utilizing broad Engineering concepts to address complex problems
  • Ability to work in a team environment within a multi-functional, organizational structure and exhibit robust interpersonal skills
  • Excellent proficiency within Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Critical thinking and conflict resolution skills and analytical abilities which allow assessment of customer service issues, situations, and opportunities
