Job Description: Public Affairs, Media, Community Relations, Publications, Photo Journalism, Graphics Location: Fort Riley, Kansas Date: May 20, 2021 Veritiss LLC is looking for an experienced Information Manager for Fort Riley, Kansas. Position requires U.S. citizenship, clearable, Secret clearance desired Public Affairs, Media, Community Relations, Publications, Photo Journalism, GraphicsThe performance outcome for the Public Affairs Office (PAO) support personnel is to provide for timely, efficient support for complete news releases, in-depth news and feature articles, edit copy, design pages, media layout development, assumes responsibility for grammatical accuracy, clarity, completeness, appropriateness for intended audience, and conformity to established standard format guidelines of publication, IAW AR 360-1 and Associated Press (AP) Style Guide. These services augment the 1st Infantry Division Public Affairs Office in support of units under the Training and Readiness Authority of the 1st Infantry Division at Forts Riley, Sill, Knox, Leonard Wood, Reserve Component and National Guard mobilization and demobilization through Fort Riley, KS in support of contingency operations. Personnel shall be required to work outside normal duty hours, and may include short notice 24-hour operations and shift work. PLANNING - Attend and coordinate both internal and external Public Affairs and 1st Infantry Division working groups for any major public affairs and or media related events that occur on or associated with Fort Riley. Providing and assisting the Public Affairs Officer and the Deputy Public Affairs Officer in coordinating events and decision making in coverage plans for internal public affairs events. COMMAND INFORMATION - Coordinate, synchronize, oversee, report and brief (as required) on all command information requests and missions throughout Division and Garrison level. Develop, coordinate, and oversee command information support for Commanding General's initiatives. Develop communications plans for all major events, write or assist with the writing of speeches and oversee execution. COMMUNITY RELATIONS - Plan, coordinate and assist government personnel in community- relations events, to include promoting, covering and marketing produced products. Establish working relationships with public relations in the local communities to ensure timely and accurate information to external audience. MARKETING - Establish working relationships with the Division, Garrison and other major Army Commands to ensure timely and accurate stories. Explores possible external market opportunities with local/national media outlets for stories/articles that have been developed for internal purposes. Develops and analyzes distribution lists to maximize circulation within the targeted audience. Develops tracking practices to provide quantifiable feedback and analysis in identifying target audiences. COPY/EDITSERVICES - Work with the government editor to adjust strategy of publication accordingly. Reviews prepared galleys of text and figures; writes editorials, articles, fact checking, assisting with editorial contentment and miscellaneous copy as appropriate; participates in monthly quality checks prior to shipping; and participates in the layout/design process. As needed, the shall participate in reader and industry research, keeping abreast and ahead of anticipated needs and changes. LAYOUT OF PUBLICATIONS - Use computer applications, computer generated graphics, available software packages for innovate designs that are prepared camera-ready for reproduction. Participates in quality checks prior to shipping; and oversees layout/design to ensure a visually pleasing product that attracts reader interest. Coordinates the efforts of freelance and other personnel, manages quality control, and coordinates the article acquisition process. MEDIA TRAINING - Assist the Division staff in providing media training for Soldiers and leaders. Specialized training shall include live camera interviews, print press interviews, education on embedded reporters, and media operations from the leader perspective. Develop, print, and provide to the Public Affairs Office media packets that include talking points, command messages and themes. MEDIA ARCHIVE - Perform archival function to maintain the Divisions Audiovisual Information Library including cataloging and indexing all audiovisual products. Works closely with Division Personnel to provide the District with an up-to-date and well-organized library system in which visual products are readily available for reference and/or use. MEDIA EMBED / MEDIA ESCORT - Coordinate and assist in escorting and embedding process for media representatives requesting to enter Fort Riley to interview/cover 1st Infantry Division stories/events. This task includes coordination with applicable Fort Riley units and organizations to facilitate movement of media representatives to and from the story/event location and ensure that a proper handoff of escort/embed duties occurs with unit/organization. Provide and ensure adherence to applicable media ground rules during media representative's visit to Fort Riley. EDITING - Serve as the editor of the 1st Infantry Division Public Affairs Office's online publications and shall provide other general editing services for the newspaper as well as other audio/visual formats as required. The performance outcome is to provide timely and efficient editor services. Editor must possess interpersonal and organizational skills in order to effectively multiple media formats as well as perform basic journalist story writing functions as needed. MEDIA MANAGEMENT - Provide tasking, coverage plans and assist in identifying topics and events for print news releases, web news articles and photojournalism as requested by the Public Affairs Officer, in-addition-to ensuring suspense times are met and all products meet the command intent. MEDIA RELATIONS - Coordinate with outside media outlets to assist in the widest dissemination of the 1st Infantry Division's story. Must be able to effectively communicate and assist media outlets when relaying the Division's command messages.PHOTO JOURNALISM - Serve as a journalist in the 1st Infantry Division Public Affairs Office and shall be responsible for all production elements of that office's publications and/or printed materials. The performance outcome is to provide timely, efficient support to provide photojournalist services in order to provide support for news releases, in-depth news and feature articles, copy/edit services, publication layout, assists with the distribution approved Public Affairs command information messages through radio, video and television, catalogs media archives and audio/visual equipment user level maintenance. HOMETOWN NEWS RELEASES - Support the PAO in providing hometown news release services. Assist the PAO in offering every Soldier the opportunity for a news release upon deployment/mobilization, for redeployment/demobilization, and for any special recognition (Purple Heart, other awards) while deploying/mobilizing or redeploying/demobilizing. All news items created by contractor personnel shall be approved and released by the PAO with a contractor goal for submitted hometown news releases of 50 percent of all eligible Soldiers. GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION/VISUAL INFORMATION - Perform various technical duties involved in communicating information through visual means. Duties include the design and display of such visual materials (e.g., photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, slides, charts, newspaper layout, etc.) used in printed media, exhibits, live or recorded presentations and other means of communication. Plans for visual aspects of printed materials, exhibits or presentations where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are:Performs research, designs and produces a wide variety of visual information products in final form for a various types of media and other Selects photos, illustrations and any enlargement/reduction necessary to achieve specified visual effects. Specifies appropriate typefaces and sizes along with other typographical elements. Plans and prepares computer-generated visuals, including slides and other state- of-the-art automation technology. Produces cost effective visual information products through a thorough understanding and application of technological capabilities. In addition, must have a working knowledge of personal computers and be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite 5 and 6, including InDesign, Illustrator,Photoshop MEDIA SOFTWARE - Working knowledge of personal computers, and be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom software packages. Train and assist Public Affairs personnel on Adobe Creative Suite 5 and 6. The Contractor shall maintain and trouble shoots the Adobe software system.
