The Position: Research Associate II, Product Development

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the R&D Team as a Research Associate II. This exciting and challenging role is responsible for performing studies related to current and future product development for molecular diagnostic assays. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development laboratory studies for DNA/RNA analysis, largely on the nCounter platform.
  • In addition to nCounter projects, work may include clinical specimen accessioning, nucleic acid isolation, DNA/RNA QC and QC of assay intermediates from RNASeq projects and/or amplicon sequencing projects.
  • Support various lab/day-to-day operations and activities across the board, execute studies, and perform troubleshooting as needed.
  • Evaluation and verification of data and coordination of activities to ensure compliance with protocol and overall objectives.
  • Participate in creating / revising and implementing standard operation procedures (SOPs), laboratory records and other related documentation.
  • Ensures testing is performed in accordance with SOPs and regulations (ISO13485) for all products and operates and maintains lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures. This will include nCounter equipment - PM, IQ/OQ/PQ and related documentation.
  • Work with internal departments and outside vendors for purchasing reagents and supplies, and partners concerning projects and commitments
  • Assist in lab maintenance and compliance

Who You Are:

The individual in this position will be involved in many aspects of studies supporting the Veracyte R&D group. This position is hands-on in the laboratory with responsibilities including, but not limited to, RNA/DNA isolation from clinical samples, running genomic assays, accurate data collection, and associated documentation including per ISO13485. To be a successful candidate, you consider yourself an expert at anticipating and identifying potential roadblocks to meeting goals and identifying corrective actions. Requirements:

Education: BS/BA in Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Stem Cell Biology or related field.

At least 2 years lab experience; preferably in the biotechnology industry or equivalent setting.

The candidate will be expected to have proficiency with general molecular biology, and standard laboratory techniques. 

  • Understand analytical procedures, run laboratory assays, analyze data and record results
  • Run and maintain existing molecular biology protocols in cooperation with end users and others.
  • Perform technical review of data and documents
  • Ensure testing is correctly documented
  • Excellent documentation skills including writing of technical documents
  • Must be flexible to handle urgent project-based requests and to perform multiple laboratory duties. Able to keep data accurately, as well as read, comprehend, and discuss research materials.
  • Able to prioritize and perform efficiently.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Team Oriented, dependable, self-starter.
  • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instruction.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, and meet timelines efficiently and productively.
  • Strong verbal communication, writing, and listening skills, as well as interpersonal skills required. Excellent skills in communication, organization, flexibility and an eagerness to learn.
  • Must be highly motivated team player and work well with others.
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
